Support Group for the Well-Endowed TM's

Thanks, purplebear! Good job, everyone.

Today it’s “only” supposed to be 91 degrees so I am going to try to get in some outdoor walking. I’m also going to try to drink more water (instead of drinks from the vending machine, which is what I usually have at work).

My brother, hearing about my efforts, brought me an exercise video so I can exercise once it gets too hot to go outside here, which will be in a couple of weeks. We’ll see if I can keep up with it! :wink:

Good morning to all!! How is everyone doing today? Check in, all of you that can, please. Guys and gals, no one has to do this alone, we’re all here for each other. So, how about we start sponsoring each other for a day, to help us get through the munchie attacks and the cravings and whatever else we may need. I’ll be happy to sponsor someone for the day today, or more than one if needed. Any other day too. Let me know.

As for myself; I took a short walk last night, not as long as I would have liked, just around a long block in my neighborhood, was very tired yesterday for some reason. I had a sandwich and some peas at my MIL’s last night for dinner, and no evening snack, though I was sorely tempted when my kids got out the goldfish mix. :stuck_out_tongue: Still working on drinking more water, thought I was going to float away yesterday. I told my kids that they’d better enjoy the junk food in the house while they can, because once its gone, I’m not buying any more. They’ll have to make due with fresh fruits and veggies for snacks, with the occasional popsicle or two. :smiley:

Brood McEto, if you don’t have anything nice to say, feel free to leave. If you want to contribute something positive and/or useful, please stay.

pipefitter, thanks for checking in with us today. Thank you for your kind words, they are much appreciated. :slight_smile:

eveilbeth, so sorry to heat that you’re not having a good day today. :frowning: I hope that you get plenty of sleep, and are feeling better this evening. :slight_smile: I’ll be here for you if you need me. {{{{{evilbeth}}}}}

chrisbar, welcome!! Glad to have you with us. That sounds like a good plan to me, keep us udated on your progress. And thanks for the group hug, it’s definitely appreciated! :slight_smile:

I’ll try to check in later, before I leave for the airport. He’s coming home today!!! :smiley: :smiley:
Shayna, guess what I’m planning on doing for exercise for the next 2 weeks?! :wink: :o :wink: :o :smiley:

i’ve been outta town and in and out of the hospital so i’m kinda behind in the reading…however, thanks to the lady hiring us to go outta town, she thought i was vegetarian and decided i didn’t need to eat. Great, well not so great, i lost 4 pounds though. Just a sucky way to do it. Hope everyone is doing great still.

Congratulations Purplebear and Pipefitter! I’m so happy for you two.:slight_smile:

Things have been going pretty well, I’m trying to eat breakfast, so that I won’t wind up famished around noon and stuff my face. The exercise is not going so well, my allergies are killing me & I haven’t been able to get an appointment, lousy army hospital. Next week, my son will be gone, so I’m going to just walk in, and park my butt in the waiting room until they see me. I’m having a hard time just getting my regular housework done, let alone exercise.

I see that Drainbead has opened a recipe thread, I think I’ll mosey on down there and contribute a few.

Keep up the good work everybody!

I have one or two food recommendations to make-

They have smoked tofu over here…I’m sure they’ll have it in States too. I used normal tofu for awhile, but it wasn’t the best thing on the planet. Smoked Tofu tastes good, has a much better consistency (in fact, it’s the same as cheese) owing to the fact that it is cooked a little, and is great on sandwiches, salads, etc. We eat it as a snack right out of the package in chunks like cheese. I’ve even shredded it and sprinkled it on stuff.

For a real quick meal that’s healthy try one can chopped tomatoes with one can drained tuna. Add some salt and pepper, etc. and use on pasta or rice (I use a little olive oil, but it works without it). It’s a Sicilian recipe for pasta originally, but it tastes good on rice or cous-cous too. The nice thing about this one is that it is chock full of protein.

Take care-

Well, I’ve made it through day 1.

I’ve increased my water intake (and my trips to the loo!) and managed to eat healthy all day. Had the veggie plate for lunch and resisted temptation and ordered a salad when we hit a fast food joint for dinner.

I walked the stairs twice yesterday. 6 floors, whew, I was gasping for air afterword. Funny thing was I wasn’t so winded after the afternoon climb. Maybe I’ll be able to add a floor sooner than I thought. :slight_smile:

My not-so-reliable scale says I’ve already lost a pound so maybe this plan will work. skeptical shrug

Good luck to everyone on their goals. Keep strong.

You still all have my support. If you are losing any, keep up the good work…if not, keep trying. You only have your health to improve.

Thanks for the recipe ideas Tomcat. Chrisbar, great first day! Keep up the good work! Shayna, where are you today? And the rest of you gals and guys? Check in please. I promise to find time every day to check this thread out, and I’ll post as I can. pipefitter, thank you for all of your support. It means so much to me, you are a dear friend.

Note to tatertot: :confused: Uh, pipefitter and I are old friends. Have been for over 20yrs. I’m married to Mr Bear. He’s home for 2 weeks, as of last night, so I won’t be posting quite as much for a while.

I had an okay day today. Slept in late for me. <no comments! :wink: > I did avoid the cake my daughter made for a party tonight, even though I was offered a piece. I have stayed good to my food plan, but I’m afraid I only drank about half of the water I should have. At least I stuck to diet sodas the rest of the time. Today was the first full day of my monthly, and the cramps were more severe than usual. :frowning: So were the cravings for sweets. Sigh. I made it through the day today, but right now, no bets on tomorrow. I’ll do the best I can.

Hope everyone’s day went well today! Have a great weekend, and I’ll check in tomorrow.

Purplebear, I knew that; I was just, uhhhh, congratulating you and Pipefitter on your friendship, it’s so nice to see friends supporting one another…yeah support, that’s good.

::wondering how many calories are burned blushing::

Sorry, I had a big 'ol brainfart there. Must me the antihistamines. But Pipefitter does have a girlfriend or wife on the board, doesn’t he? Or am I just making stuff up? I do that sometimes. :wink:

Things are going pretty good here, I’m going to be totally alone for the next week, no kid or anything, so I’m really going to have to watch myself. Plus, there’s the Euro-Dopers meeting, but I’m going to go on and give myself permission to indulge. OTOH, I’ll have plenty of time to walk & exercise, I’m going to check out the Post gym and do a lot of walking up in the mountains.

Tonight, I’m going to post more recipes on Drainbead’s thread.

Best wishes to everybody, especially Mr. & Mrs. Bear! You too, Pipefitter! :slight_smile:

I have lost three pounds and am under 140 (139.5!) for the first time in years. (I’m only 5’3", so every little bit I lose or gain seems to show.) I am dogsitting, so taking the dog for walks is giving me a good way to exercise. I have also bought a pitcher to keep water in the fridge, so that I will have cold water to drink instead of cold sodas.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :slight_smile:

I’m here, I’m here!!

I’m so sorry I haven’t stopped in in the last couple of days. I haven’t even made more than cursory appearances in my own smoke-out topic!

So how is everyone doing? Purplebear, I know you’re getting exercise! :D;):rolleyes::eek: Go you!

I’ve been a lazy bum. :frowning: I need an exercize partner, dadgummit. Grrrrr, this is hard. I think it’s harder than quitting smoking.

Anyone want to sponsor me for a day of exercise? LOL I’ll sponsor you back, if you want!!

{{{{{{{{{{hugs to all the dieters here}}}}}}}}}}

You are doing real good Purplebear, keep up the good work. I know how hard it is to resist sweets. Just keep trying.

Just so you know, I am not on this diet, if I lose any weight, I’ll just blow away. I have always been the skinny type, though my dad always used to say that I’ll put on weight when I reach puberty…I guess I’m still wating. :slight_smile: I do my best to give moral support to her and everyone else that needs it.

I do not have a wife on board here, though I do have a wife.

tatertot, support is good. :smiley: Blushing burns lots of calories, I’m sure. :wink: Thanks for the best wishes, we’re dong fine. Well, Mr Bear, as it turns out, is in need of this thread as well. :wink: Seems the weight I’ve lost has migrated over to UAE! At least, some of it. :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s still my favorite bear, though. Now we’re a little more even in size, that’s all. :slight_smile:

D Marie, That is great news!! A pound at a time, that’s the way to do it! Yes, I’m having a good weekend so far, but have a very busy day planned for tomorrow.

Shayna, No comment. :smiley: :wink: I am getting some exercise, yes. Of course, it’s walking the puppy around the neighborhood. :wink: :wink: I’d be happy to sponsor you for a day of exercising! I’ll take Sunday, since I too have a lot of running around to do. {{{{{{{{Shayna}}}}}}}}

pipefitter, my dear, thanks for the vote of confidence. Knowing you’re in my corner is really helping me a lot. You’re such a dear to come here and support all of us in this! :smiley: {{{{{{{{pipefitter}}}}}}}}

I’m sorry to say that I fell off the wagon, so to speak, today. :frowning: I had a couple of bites of a chocolate cream pie from Bill MIller’s at lunch. Dessert came with the daily special, and I couldn’t resist a couple of bites. On the plus side, I found it soooooo sweet that a couple of bites was plenty for me! :smiley: I did leave almost all of the hash browns, and most of my cole slaw on my plate, and I pulled all of the skin off my roasted chicken breast. And, I got unsweetened iced tea. And tonight hubby bought me a strawberry margarita with my dinner, so I drank it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, well, tomorrow’s another day. Have to not beat myself up for slipping, and just get right back up again the next day. With family coming in, and our son’s graduation stuff going on, eating well won’t be easy, but I promise to do the best I can. I would appreciate a sponsor for the next 2 days. Any volunteers?

Where’s everyone else today? Hope to hear from all of you soon. I’ll check in again tomorrow.

{{{{{{{{{GroupHugs}}}}}}}}}

Okay, I’m joining the group. I have about 80 lbs. to lose. I do have the weight watchers diet plan and I bought several frozen entrees to put in the freezer here at work. I even bought a couple of dessert (WW of course). I guess that I’ll have to start going back to my water aerobics classes, although lately my back has been acting up and I haven’t felt like it.

evilbeth and all of you others that HATE water. I also despise water and have found that the only way I can drink 8 8 oz. glasses a day is to have bottled distilled or filtered water and drink it from a glass not a plastic anything. Plastic gives the water an unappetizing flavor IMO.

I have several recipes from WW that I will post on Drain Bead’s thread some time tomorrow.

I am actually going to try to find a diabetics food plan book as I am fairly sure that it is nutritionally sound and something that I could probably live with forever. Because once you’ve lost your weight you have to start adding things back into your diet to maintain.

{{{{{{group hug}}}}}}

Well, I had a bad weekend, dammit. PMS had me by the throat on Friday, and I went to a coworker’s b-day party tired, stressed, hungry, and craving sugary things. Didn’t help that they had no real food - just finger stuff.

Felt like hell Saturday, got no walking done. Struggling with the emotional roadblocks I have in the way of this. Again and again, it’s not the actual decision to eat better that gets me, it’s my inability/refusal to plan ahead so that I can eat according to my low carb rules.

Oh, and in two weeks, I’m driving up to Kansas to pick up my mom for a road trip to California. My mom, whom I adore and love and bond with like superglue. My mom, who has lost forty pounds on a strict, strict diet and put all my efforts to shame. My mom, who dragged me to Weight Watchers when I was 12 and no more fat than any other girl about to hit menarche. My mom, who, for all that she is supportive and caring, leaves me feeling deflated, conflicted, and completely incapable of losing weight.

Yeah, can you say “psyched out”? I knew you could . . .

Bast

Good luck today, Purplebear. As you know, you always have my support. :):):slight_smile:

Welcome to Bast, the newest member of the thread.

oh kayyyyy, so I have a bunch of boredom, frustration, anger, whatever fat that has settled onto my corpus maximus.
I think checking in here will be good for me, and remind me of what I want to accomplish. (less pain, more energy, longer life with fewer medical hassles ahead… and maybe, just maybe an improvement in self image.) Thanks purplebear for taking the leap.

I am just checking in.

I had a huge breakfast this morning. I don’t even like breakfast!

My monthly cramps have been much more painful than usual this month. I had been thinking it was because I stopped taking my birth control pills but maybe my diet has something to do with it as well.

I am trying to get some more walking in but it has been rainy here for the past few days. I have been drinking water, as much as I hate it. I am taking frozen Weight Watchers meals to work with me. (Just one per night! When I read that sentence it looked like I was bringing several at a time!) I am snacking on baby carrots. My husband grilled a large steak for me for dinner last night and I only ate half of it.

I am so glad we have so many people here! You guys are great support! Drain’s thread is great too! I may have to put my Spicy Chicken Spaghetti recipe over there.
