My wife and I were chatting last evening. She has dutifully resigned herself to being known as “ofDavid” going forward.
Which … y’know … is nice.

Not to mention that it will be illegal to provide abortions which I think guarantees they cannot operate legally.

You would have to look at the state law. How the law defines abortion could be different from how the doctor defines abortion - especially if the law uses the word homicide instead of abortion (you can’t kill something that’s already dead). The medical team should have lawyers to look at this sort of thing.

I imagine that it’s true. I’ve heard rumblings about it in conservative circles. The problem that I keep running into is, well, you know all those companies and city governments that promise to pay for a woman’s travel out of state to procure an abortion? Doesn’t that go on a subpoena-able record somewhere?
This presumably isn’t an original idea, but what if, instead of having an abortion, a woman decides to remove her child (sic) from life support? There was the whole Schiavo mess so the QOP would undoubtedly try to pass laws restricting even more parental rights, but at first glance it seems like a dodge an aggressive attorney and/or doctor get make fly.
Remember the whole distinction about heroic measures versus standard care? That would probably come into play again.

Wouldn’t arresting women who travel for abortions run afoul of the 14th Amendment?
Like they would care.
Arresting a woman who traveled to murder her baby? An easy call for an up and coming prosecutor in a QOP controlled state. Now, I guess there is a question of jurisdiction (the “murder” happening in a different state), but I’m sure there are ways around that.
That’s easy enough. Nine month pretrial detention with no bail for conspiracy for murder.

We should really think about setting up detention centers for all pregnant women. You know, just to be safe.
You say it jokingly now…
After a night of partying, four friends are kidnapped by a mysterious man. The friends wake up in a basement, and realize they are part of something horrifying. A human breeding farm. They are to be milked, bred, and much, much worse.
I was thinking more The Handmaid’s Tale.
And it begins:
It wasn’t published officially. It was leaking by a person or persons currently unknown. Their motivation also is not known. However, the most likely explanation is they hoped to shame a Justice or 2 into changing their mind.
Like with abstinence-only sex education, it didn’t work then, it won’t work now, but they’ll never change their minds on its efficacy.
