Brings to mind a piece of cynical (but sadly too often true) advice I was given decades ago: “If you can’t spot the sucker in the deal, it’s probably you.”

I prefer, “You can’t cheat an honest man. He has to have larceny in his heart in the first place.”

MAGA didn’t think there were no suckers in the deal, they just thought the sucker was someone else.
