On this plane of existence, though, way too many of them die peacefully in their beds. They may not have been happy–in fact they almost certainly were not. But they experienced a good ending anyway.
As for Laura Loomer posting
…Elon’s lawyers may well see that as a threat of bodily harm, and set the FBI on her. (And given what the FBI will be in three weeks, even if it isn’t quite that now, Loomer will suffer.)
Woke? I don’t think so. I think she’s just butt-hurt and powerless to undo the muzzling-on-X Elon has put on her. So she lashes out with an implicit, stochastic-style call for violence against him.
It’s his platform. None of his critics can win on his platform.
That’s my take on it too. She’s wishing harm on Musk but in a passive-aggressive way that allows her to deny responsibility if something does end up happening to him.
This one is blowing up, and so far not going away. Over on Breitbart they’re in an absolute tizzy. What’s really interesting is that some MAGA are just adopting Trump’s position that H1B immigration is different, while others are actually criticizing Trump.
Brings to mind a piece of cynical (but sadly too often true) advice I was given decades ago: “If you can’t spot the sucker in the deal, it’s probably you.”
Donald of course does not need the MAGA base’s votes any more for himself and what does he care if the GOP dies after 2028 or after he does, so no surprise he’s siding with those who can give him what he continues to want: (a) more money, a LOT of it, and (b) a display of what he admires as most righteous, someone powerful using their resources to exact great retribution and revenge on those who did not know their place.
OTOH the Elons of the world need to be aware Donald is someone who would say “DOJ: ruin them; frame them if you have to” if they piss him off enough.
Well she’s not wrong about that. (Though the same is true of some employers who use a lot of low-skill undocumented immigrants, they want someone they can hold on through fear. )
I wonder if they’ll notice that this is the same argument as is used against private healthcare insurance being supplied by employers. If you have some kind of health problem, it makes it almost impossible to switch jobs, because you’ll lose your insurance.
