A company I used to work for as an independent contractor had a waiting period for insurance, and they insisted that it was not their choice, that their insurer required the waiting period.
This was a very small company…….probably around 20 employees and I’m sure they had an unusually high claim rate, due to several of the higher up employees having serious health problems.
I know that it seemed like the insurance company was always coming in and auditing their payroll, I got thrown off their policy after one such audit because as an independent contractor I had formed a corporation.
(The company had assured me this change would not affect my insurance but they were wrong.)
I’m not sure I believed them about the waiting period, but given the scrutiny they gave us it seems plausible.
Imagine a world in which all this information was transparently available.

Of course he did this - H-1B workers are, in a sense, indentured servants. They can’t just up and go elsewhere if Musk treats them like shit, they have to either stay at the place that hired them or go back home.

I just saw an article about VPN usage skyrocketing in FL and other states. Also, warning phone users not to get scammy free VPNs to get to access their porn. 
Late this afternoon I was in a groc store in a working class neighborhood. Lotta Social Security recipients with little more to rely on. And lots of hard working low-wage folks with little to show for it. Real Americans IOW. All ethnicities and immigration sources are well represented. The legit salt of the earth mostly, but rather few rocket surgeons.
As I’m walking out to my car I see a 20 yo rageddy mini-SUV w the hood up. 60ish raggedy white dude in worn work clothes is pouring stop-leak into his radiator. The whole ass end of the car is festooned w trump / MAGA stickers. Probably a dozen total. He’s wearing a MAGA hat. The car has two mini (~8x10") American flags flying from each back door. I’m not stereotyping; he is. In spades.
He pretty apparently voted trump and he’s gonna see his disability or SS gutted. And his cost of living raised with no increase in wages. If he gets any other government subsidy it’ll disappear. The corporations that are robbing him blind will be offered carte blanche to redouble their predations.
But he’ll get a $40 tax cut that he’ll believe is thousands and by gum, Murrica will be great!

I went down to the corner market an hour or two ago. I didn’t buy any eggs, as they were $6.99/dozen (large). I’ll go to the supermarket tomorrow or sometime, and get jumbo eggs. I don’t know how much they are, but I’ll bet they’re a lot more than I paid a couple of weeks ago. What with the avian flu, I saw it coming. When Trump causes the price of eggs to climb higher, at least I’ll have the satisfaction of knowing I didn’t vote for him.
Hmm. Eggs were not on my list that visit so I did not check. I’ll make a stop tomorrow at my usual fat-cat locale, but regional mainstream chain, groc store & price some eggs.
We shall see.

Right now at my work, the rising prices have meant that the fancy eggs (brown/jumbo/organic/free range etc.) are now the same price as the normal eggs, so people are buying up our fancy eggs and leaving the regular ones mostly untouched.
Exactly the same thing I’m seeing.
Strangely, the jumbo eggs have cost slightly less than other eggs.
I think you are making the classic error here of assuming that what you see is all there is. I know a few exceedingly wealthy people who absolutely could not give a shit about where they are on some list. They dress down, live in extremely comfortable but not showy houses, and drive only slightly fancy cars. Due to this, they have no profile and probably don’t inform your (or anyone else’s) view on how rich people behave.
