So you were OK with the first half of the first sentence, then it went downhill?
I agreed with their dismay at the pardons and the message that it sends to right-wing vigilante types. But I don’t like equating Biden’s and Trump’s pardons. If Biden releases an elderly criminal who has been in prison for almost 50 years, there are agruments that can be made on both sides as to whether clemency is appropriate. However there are none to be made that pardoning violent insurrectionists is a good thing, at least if you want to maintain the rule of law. But we know Trump doesn’t.
Out of curiosity, do FBI agents “count” as police officers?
So, ACAT – All Cops Are Targets – and that’s okay with FOP, I guess.
Suffer, and like it.
Report from the Daily Kos passing along a story from New Republic:
Won’t take many raids like this for farm workers and probably other illegals to start staying away in droves.
The comments to that item are interesting. Plenty of “I told you sos,” of course, but one did give us a new name for the CFSG: “Pumpkin Fuhrer.”
I like it!
Trump three months ago: When I’m president FEMA will be great again
Trump today: lol you guys are on your own
Brown people, not “illegals”. Every time there’s a crackdown somewhere you get entire families leaving, immigrant or not because it’s not about immigration. It’s race war.
Am I being whooshed? The both-siderism is in the first sentence that expresses any dismay.
“Illegal” is an adjective. No plurals.
“Illegal” is a slur, the point is to dehumanize them. Even serial killers aren’t illegal.
Yes, I know. OTOH, there’s plenty of time for accusations of bigotry if the prescriptivist reprimands don’t lead to people thinking things through instead of accidentally posting slurs.
Speaking of prescriptivism, damn! That tweet/twuth/WETF it is quoted by @Smapti above is a prime example of how not to write in English.
Well, excuse me for using the term. Lets substitute “undocumented workers” for that.
The leopards were right there but then John found someone else to blame. We’ll be seeing a lot of this.
Regardless of the merits of his case, I hope actual, non metaphorical, leopards eat his face as punishment for typing like that.
You beat me to the punch on that one. Is his tweet just one long title, or is every word in it a proper name?
Shutting down any health information communications from the CDC, NIH, etc. Can’t let Georgia and other states with a large poultry industry know about the avian influenza outbreak. Don’t want them knowing that they and their kids could be at risk.
The point seems to be to just dismantle the entire government, even the boring and non-controversial parts. Even the MAGAs didn’t vote for that.
It reads like parody, but sadly I have no doubt it’s genuine. Satire is dead.
