Not that they could vote in the last election, but one of them wanted to know why the various advocates who had been working to help them come back to the US were suddenly all doom and gloom about the prospect of getting anything done for them under Trump. One of them had this idea that it’s because we’re unwilling to work with Trump, and if only we’d overcome our prejudices and forget about whatever past disagreements we might have had with Trump and his policies and just ask nicely, he would surely reach across the aisle to pardon them and give them a path to Citizenship because he’d understand that they deserve it.

If this were a movie, he’d reason that, hey, what do we really know about this Trump guy? Well, he pardons people who storm a particular building, so…

You know, if Trump wants to beat China, hamstringing one of the world’s pre-eminent research agencies probably isn’t the way.

I don’t quite remember what happened with Pompeo but he’s been out of favor with Mango Mussolini for awhile now.

I think Trump is intending this to be some sort of object lesson for those who oppose him. The idea is to strip their defenses and let some nutjob (or in some cases displeased foreign nation) have a shot at them. Perhaps literally.

Of course Donald will get personal pleasure from any news of injury or death to someone he finds insufficiently worshipful of him.

But it’s more than that. He needs chaos. He needs frequent assassination attempts (the more successful, the better). He needs millions of Americans to decide that maybe we DO need more of a law-and-order crackdown, and if that means the Army stationed on every street corner, then so be it.

Big surprise, that - skeevy real estate developer now an elected leader of a major world power suggest doing what he used to do back in the day - clear rubble and shove the poor and unwanted off real estate, the build all sorts of stuff for those with more money. Essentially, gentrify Gaza. Except on this scale and in this context it’s ethnic cleansing and genocide.

If there was ever a group of declared-for-Trump voters who were told in plain terms that their guy would be MUCH worse for them than the guy (and gal) they wanted to punish, it’s the Arab-Americans.

Yeah, this was one was always going to happen. The Arab-Americans that voted for Trump were just dolts. The greater number of disillusioned who declared a pox on both houses and then just didn’t vote…

I get it. They felt like they were between a rock and hard place, with no good choices. I’m far too much of a pragmatist to ever agree with them and make that choice, but I can at least sympathize with their frustrations. I won’t throw eggs at them. But the ones who thought Trump would be better for Palestinians or even Arab-Americans, as opposed to merely a greater evil, were idiots.

I can’t. It has never in our history been a more clear choice as to the only candidate to vote for in the last three presidential elections. Anyone who put their faith, trust, or hope in Trump doing the right thing has no excuse for that other than willful stupidity.
