Sorry, no. She hasn’t tried. She’s a sell-out.
Farmers are getting hammered from multiple directions by trump. There’s the USAID purchasing they relied on. Theres the USDA freeze. And there’s the tariffs. Farmers usually operate on thin margins. Many are going to be bankrupted. Trump eats all the faces. He is an insatiable maw of destruction.
Pretty much. I do think she voted against Hegseth but I think she voted for the rest of the clown car occupants.
Excellent point, and perfect name for this.
Will be interesting to see what happens when flooding/droughts occur during the upcoming growing season.
Re: coffee in gov’t offices. I think folk outside gov’t office do not appreciate how strict the rules are as to what can be provided - or accepted. As someone whose career has almost entirely been w/ the feds, the idea of an employer providing coffee is almost as inconceivable as it seems to be to many that coffee would NOT be provided. And - yes - our office had a water cooler fund (when everyone was in-office.) I never understood that, as I think Chicago water just fine.
Add in that every year we have “ethics” training hammering that we cannot accept anything of value - used to be $10, might be $25 now. A lawyer used to bring in coffeecake for our office to share. That had to be stopped. A contractor once gave me a sack of green beans from her garden. I was told I had to share them with the entire office. We used to be told we could not use the phones/copiers for any personal business. Some time back that was changed to permit “reasonable” use.
None of this really “offends” me. It is simply the way govt employ has always been IME. But I’ve not yet encountered the large numbers of grossly overpaid and underworked civil servants wallowing in luxury.
Because they are imaginary. We’re all aware of who the overpaid are.
So… it’s reasonable to assume you’ve never worked for Congress, yes?
He probably hasn’t - but “civil servant” doesn’t refer to all government employees.* Generally speaking, it refers to those employees who are neither elected nor political appointees and who stay from administration to administration. So not Congress, not Cabinet secretaries or heads of agencies. Some judges are civil servants, some are not.
* “Public servant” would refer to all government employees including elected officials and political appointees but you don’t hear that often.
Man who voted to put a Fox News host in charge of the military is confused as to why the head of the military talks like a Fox News host.
Saw on the news today around 7500 folks got fired by text. Various agencies, but The Forest Service is the only one I took note of. 3400 of the poor bastards.
Way To Go, Shitheads!
“We should have raked the damn forests…”
Smokey the Bear says “Only you can prevent forest fires. Seriously. We’ve been defunded. It’s just you now.”

[Discourse is declining to show a preview. From the article:]
Quite symbolic.
I expect the plan is to sell the national parks all off to various industries for exploitation. Given the level of spite that characterizes Trump and company, to the most destructive ones they can find. Clearcutting & stripmining the national parks and filling them with toxic waste would make them ecstatic, they’d gloat endlessly about it.
I wish I could believe that’s hyperbolic.
Here’s a list I pulled from the fednews subreddit.
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Department of Education
Department of Energy
General Services Administration
Office of Personnel Management
Small Business Administration
US Forest Service
Veterans Affairs
National Nuclear Security Administration
Housing and Urban Development
Center for Disease Control
National Park Service
This one, something about this one stands out a little.
Smokey Bear, no middle name.
Right you are! I forgot. Either way, Smokey’s been…fired.
