They’re only complaining about the damage being done to them. They care naught about the damage done to others. Witness the comment “I like a lot of his policies”.

Russia has nowhere near the military power available to pull this off. And that’s not considering the fact that the UK and France have enough nuclear weapons to vaporize both St Petersburg and Moscow. MAD still applies even if the US does nothing.
Trump and his actions are the culmination of those policies. Not the intended outcome, but we all know what the road to hell is paved with.

If Putin does it, he won’t do it all at once but one by one, installing a puppet to keep each one under control in turn, freeing up his military to take on the next one.
As to nukes, your post is self defeating. MAD means UK and France won’t nuke Moscow for invading one former soviet bloc country. Or the next, or the next.
But Russia has to be very sure of that fact, that NATO won’t go nuclear to defeat an invasion of a NATO country. Unless the UK and France explicitly renounce using their weapons Moscow must assume that MAD still applies.
His reasoning would be that the UK will not start a nuclear war (and its own substantial annihilation) for the sake of the freedom of an Eastern European country. And he would be correct.
