Surprises coming for voters for the Leopards-Eating-Faces Party

I looked briefly and I know what you mean. I think because they are so into projection - I found out the exact thing I despite in rumpers is what they personally witness “lefties” doing. somehow.

If I might hijack this thread about what we thought of Trump 40 years ago with a story about leopards and face-eating;

The high school situation was not always thus. My alma mater was ranked as the third best public high school in the country my freshman year.

My brother is one. TBF he bought a Model S in 2015 before Trump came down that damn escalator. OTOH a year ago when I was contemplating buying a Herz-fleet Bolt he tried to talk me into a used Model 3 for about the same price, pointing out that the DCFC Supercharger network is much more robust . To reach that point though the Tesla would have had close to 100,000 miles on it while the Bolt I bought was 5,700 and still faintly had that new car smell.* Even the Model 3 was more car than I needed, never mind the S, but he likes larger automobiles – the car before the Tesla was a CNG Crown Victoria.

We’re both kind of fans of SpaceX but we’re hoping Elmo uses it to emigrate to Mars.

*Now it smells like dog.

Depends on the school I guess. Mine was mostly a football program with some minimal academics.

This has been something of a digression from face eating leopards.

North Carolina is going to get what they voted (mostly) for good and hard. All of my friends from when I lived there are looking to relocate.

I was posting for about a month in a right wing heavy forum in their politics section. I lasted about a month before I was banned as a troll.
I only posted very mild liberal opinions but apparently that was too much for them.

Good riddance.

I just saw a Tesla today with a sticker that had the word Elon with a diagonal line through it (as in no Elon). So at least that person is making it clear what they think even though they bought a Tesla at some point.

Because nobody ever heard of them before Trump discovered them. Duh.

Thanks for that. Sums it up better than just about anything I’ve seen in this thread so far.

…actually, upon further review, are we sure that most of these folks at the meeting voted for Trump? The article mentions 60% of the district did…but it seems that many of these folks support “liberal” policies, and aren’t just mad about the batshit crazy federal programs cuts.

I don’t know if it’s bad form to just plug stuff, but I stumbled today on the youtube channel “Dark Brandon” that is hosted by a leopard, and reacts to videos of MAGA faithful complaining about what’s happening to them. I liked the deadpan humor.

[split because I’m getting the dreaded “You can’t embed…”]

People are dumb. Like really dumb.

As in so dumb they don’t really know the actual policy positions of their preferred candidates.

Yes, there’s a lot of people who thought the leopards wouldn’t eat their faces, but there’s a lot more stupendously stupid people out there who denied the leopards would eat faces at all or were even leopards to begin with.

One of my Facebook “friends” is a MAGAt and occasionally posts pro-Trump crap like this:

I don’t know how long it will take for the “other side” to understand that Trump and his team are doing exactly what we elected them for. For the first time in many many years, someone is doing what is best for the USA. As a whole. Everyone. This includes you too. Like it or not. Quit whining.

I’m waiting for one of Trump’s policies to bite him in the ass and see what his reaction is.

It already has, the MAGA is just a willful ignorant, here is Trump’s Secretary, Marco Rubio, telling us how it was a bad idea to remove USAID just a few years ago:

https://news.wttw.com/2025/02/05/marco-rubio-s-years-strong-support-usaid-stand-contrast-his-sudden-criticism-aid-agency

But just three years ago, Rubio argued the exact opposite, urging the Biden administration in a 2022 letter to prioritize USAID’s funding as a key tool to “counter the Chinese Communist Party’s expanding global influence.”

A longtime defender of U.S. foreign aid, Rubio pushed back against criticism of the agency in repeated comments uncovered by CNN — defending aid as both vital and a small part of America’s overall fiscal budget.

“We don’t have to give foreign aid. We do so because it furthers our national interest. That’s why we give foreign aid. Now obviously there’s a component to foreign aid that’s humanitarian in scope, and that’s important too,” he said in February 2013.

“Foreign aid as a part of our overall budget is less than 1% of the total amount the US Government spends,” Rubio said in one 2017 speech on the Senate floor. “I promise you it is going to be a lot harder to recruit someone to anti-Americanism and anti-American terrorism if the United States of America is the reason one is even alive today.”

“Anybody who tells you that we can slash foreign aid and that will bring us to balance is lying to you. Foreign aid is less than one percent of our budget. It’s just not true,” he added in August 2019, while speaking to the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches.

Yep, the recruitment of the ones opposing the US and even willing to do violence against us has already started. And as others have said, everything Trump touches turns to shit, Rubio too.

Part of the problem, I think, is that despite all the MAGAs whining and sulking about how eeeevviiiillll and horrendous and inefficient the government is, they’ve become unconsciously accustomed to government actually working pretty well and consistently on the whole.

No matter which bitterly disputed figurehead happens to be currently in the White House, they get their Social Security checks and mostly safe prescription drugs and traffic accident cleanups and occasional infrastructure improvements and a reasonably stable economy and significant percentages of taxpayer-salaried bureaucrats sincerely trying to accomplish things in the public interest. Oh, and nobody’s invading us.

This has given them the unconscious confidence of tantrumming toddlers who scream and fume and demand/attempt to break everything within reach to express their uncontrolled frustration, while at the same time taking it for granted that the grownups will keep them from actually hurting themselves, or breaking anything that they’ll seriously regret.

Well, MAGA are in the process of finding out that they are technically grownups too, and there’s only so much that the rest of us can do to protect them, and ourselves, from the consequences when they really make up their minds to break shit.

They fume and fret about government “not working”, but they’ve lost any serious historically informed awareness of what it’s like to have government really not work, and in fact to be actively hostile to its constituents’ interests. Well, they’re about to find out.

So are the rest of us.

Excellent post, I think.

At least he’s given you the perfect response. “For the first time in many many years, someone is doing what is best for the USA. As a whole. Everyone. This includes you too. Like it or not. Quit whining.”

Yes, not just goverment but the economy and society in general, they have been lulked into a sense that the “normal” course of everyday life is some sort of default rest state that should just happen. So whatever are the inconveniences, or the parts they object to, THOSE are what the deepstate bureaucracy is up to. Because otherwise all would be OK.

Only if when LurkMeister’s “what is best for the USA” was happening, his friend kept his fucking yap shut. Does anybody think that happened? That this fuck thought “well, the liberals in charge right now think this is what’s best for the USA, so I should not be a whiny crybaby about it.”

Because I don’t remember that.
