Survivor 3/13/13 Persona non Grata

Man, I felt dirty just watching that trainwreck <shudder>. I guess Probst earned his weekly pretty well, but I know that there were probably 100 crew members nearby in case he failed to calm the wild boar.

Did any one watch the Brandon interview at the end? That boy is delusional.

And his uncle Willie got ejected from Big Brother last season for getting violent. Russell is the sane one, and by a wide margin.

My feelings exactly,failed miserably.

I’ve been thinking similar things about his future arrest(s).

I said to the SO, ‘I wonder how he’s enjoying his performance, watching it on his big-screen TV in his single-wide.’ (She said, ‘Or in his uncle’s house.’) Not to disparage people who live in trailers, but he’s really perpetuating the stereotype.

I think Probst handled the whole thing very well.

Over on EW, this week’s interview with Probst has him saying that he decided pretty early on that they should just have Tribal there at the challenge rather than let Brandon go back to the camp. He also says that he has a mic to communicate with those off location and he alerted them to a potentially explosive situation and to have the boat with the psychologist on it ready to go.

Being on the show is stressful and I think it can break people. People who already have cracks are probably more vulnerable. Brandon has quite a few cracks.

I hope they were able to salvage some of their beans and rice, at least he didn’t pee on it or burn the shelter down.

I assume so - it seems that they had to take turns. I also assume they just had to hold onto the rope with their hands & fingers - no one wrapped it around their arms or anything.

The boat with the psychologist? And the nice men with the funny coat?

and then…

IANAPsychologist, but I think Brandon might have anger issues.

Either they don’t do psych profiles (which is bad)…or they do, and thought that Brandon was Ratings Gold! (which is worse).

All that ranting about being “author of his own fate” sounded like it could have come from someone holding hostages wearing a suicide vest. That boy has issues.

I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul

Timothy McVeigh quoted the last two lines of Invictus as his final written statement.

On another subject, does anyone know if there are specific rules about the Hidden Immunity Idol? This time it was hidden again immediately after it was used but other times, in the past, it seems like once it was used, we never heard anything about it again.

Rules? Producers don’t need no stinkin’ rules!

I expect that’s probably the answer. Whatever is going to make for a better episode is the rule that is applied. The contestants probably agree to that when they sign their contracts. There’s obviously no hard rule that contestants may only be voted out in the ‘tribal counsel area’ by secret ballot.

During the challenge it looked to me as if Brenda was limping pretty good. Did I miss something? She twist her ankle or something?

IMO, Mark Burnett and the others PTB don’t care what is said about the production and contestants on Survivor.

They only care that Something is Said about Survivor.

Look at the TWoP threads . There are already more comments about last nights episode than any of the four prior episodes this season.

As long as that happens, Production is going to look for potential train-wrecks as contestants.

People are not going to talk about nice normal and uncontroversial people. They talk about Philip, and Brandon, and Facts of Life Blair, and Racist Colton, and Russell, etc etc.

What happened last night is exactly the type of thing that TPTB wanted. I would not be surprised if next weeks episode is gets the highest ratings of any regular episode this season.

I was wondering that too; I don’t think we saw her injure it at any point.

It’s always been put back into play if a contestant used it at tribal council. If I remember correctly the original Hantz found several of them without clues.

The worst part? Brandumb & his wife are expecting their third poor child in about four months. I just listened to the EW Inside TV podcast, and he is immensely proud of how he acted and how he went out. Utterly delusional.

I was waiting for Brandon to pull out an immunity idol and really mess with everyone as Philip was voted out based on Brandon’s one vote.

Pretty sure they are looking for crazy people when they do psychological profiles, not sane ones.
As far as the immunity idol judging by when it gets found and at least one interview where a contestant talked about looking in the same spot where the idol was later found, they rehide the idol during the reward challenge immediately following it being used at tribal, at least in prior seasons. Not sure that applied during seasons where it was “hiding in plain sight” like on the rice container, but in seasons where it was hidden hidden like the ones with russell they always rehid it. We just don’t see it that often because the idol tends to get dragged along into the end game until the last possible moment, or used right after a merge while there are two idols and I don’t think they rehide a second immunity idol if one is still in someone’s possession.
