Richard Hatch, the actor best known for playing Captain Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica, died in 2017.
Richard Hatch, the winner of Survivor Season 1, is - as far as I know - still very much alive.
On another subject, it’s my opinion that Amber Brkich would absolutely be the least memorable Survivor winner ever if she hadn’t happened to hook up with Boston Rob. Change my mind.
The best gameplay this season and I hope they bring it again was when they split into two groups and one person from each group got immunity and another got voted out.
TPTB are trying to ensure that the final three does not include two GOATS.
I guess the best example was at Ghost Island.
The final four was Domenick, Laurel, Wendell, and Angela, with Domenick winning the final four immunity.
All indications that Domenick, Laurel, and Angela would have voted out Wendell, basically meaning a landslide win for Domenick as Angela and Laurel were viewed as Goats.
I think players got too good at carrying goats with them to the end, eliminating most of the drama of Final TC. This way, there’s usually a better chance of having at least two players who might actually receive some votes.
I think what people are starting to figure out and what Dean has verbalize is that goats are threats because everyone wants to keep them around. Which is great if you’re going to make the final 3, but it also makes it harder for you to make the final 3.
If they really want to keep around the final four challenge, I hope they mix it up and not make it fire making every time. Because now, knowing a basic survival skill makes you a huge threat. Tommy even said he never made fire at camp because he didn’t want people to know he was good at it.
I also dont like how the final three is determined. The imunity challenge winner should not be the one to choose whos going to be in the final three.
To keep with the spirit of the game and the tribal council why not have the jury vote for the two that will be in the final three but they dont get to talk, they dont get to ask questions, just listen to what the 4 players have to say.
Another option then is to have the three players draw fire.
I think I like that the final IC winner chooses. It’s a throwback to when there used to be a final 2, and the final IC winner just flat-out picks who goes to the jury, not even any voting.
(I’m not mixing that up with Big Brother, which I think still does that, right? They both had final 3 winner choose final 2?)
Yeah, both the change from final 2 to final 3 and the addition of the fire-making challenge have been attempts to spice up the final vote and avoid the presence of one or more goats making it a unanimous vote. The players have adapted and goats at the end are still happening. I suspect they’ll change it up again soon. Though with a season of all winners, it’s hard to call anyone a goat, so maybe they’ll go back to a normal final 3 or even final 2 this time.
