Yep, and come to think of it, this was yet another instance of Jeff deliberately messing with the tribes. Of course it’s not the first time he’s done it, but it rankles just a bit (I think he should leave them to their own devices more often than not). Jeff specifically asked who would volunteer to be the tribe leader, and Dave and Peih-Gee both raised their hands, thereby painting a target on their own backs (Peih-Gee subsequently hung back a bit). If Jeff hadn’t asked, the team dynamic back at camp would probably have been a bit different.
And, they went with it. No one demurred. Thus, Dave was elected by Consensus.
It’s actually quite easy. Dave is just the first person to do it correctly on the show that I have seen. Rather than chopping at the flint with a 2 foot long machete, one holds the blade still and moves the flint against the dull side of it. End result = a shower of sparks rather than a semi amputated finger.
Yeah, but come on: which makes for better television?
Quixotic, thanks for continuing with the ratings!
So, like I said "It isn’t that easy to start a fire with one of those “flints”, there’s a trick/technique to it to it ". I know the technique, you know it and Dave knows it. Most of the people don’t know it, and thus it isn’t apparant or easy. It is easy once you known the trick/technique. But I have watched dudes ruin a flint on Survivor before and I wouldn’t hand my tribes only means of making fire over to a moron like Ashley.
Which brings us back to “What kind of idiot do they get for this show anyway?” They all seem to have seen enough episodes to have a basic strategy down, but none of them bothered to learn how to use a flint & steel? They’ve only been using them on Survivor for what, 14 seasons? They must actively screen out anybody with any sense during the interview process.
I will not be able to start the Survivor thread this week because I have an urgent family function to attend tomorrow that rhymes with “Biladelphia Billies Blayoff Bame.” I promise not to have too much fun if someone else promises to start the thread, OK?
