Unstable? Abi is the epitome of unstable all by herself. I can’t see her making the final. If Denise and Malcolm get serious about their newfound alliance with Lisa, they can pull in Skupin and Penner (who now knows he was betrayed) and see what they can do. Or maybe Artis - though he doesn’t much like Skupin . . .

I sort of glossed over the final strategy/alliance part befor tribal, but I thought it was strange that Abi Normal voted for Penner instead of RC. I know the plan was to split the vote so RC would go if Penner played the idol, but it seemed like Penner had a few more votes than RC. I guess I thought Abi Normal would vote for RC come hell or high water.
While I was aware pre-Survivor: Phillippines that there were characters named Blair, Tootie, Jo, and Mrs. Garrett on Facts of Life, I have never seen an episode and would never have picked out Lisa. I’m 28, which seems to be older than the remaining people who don’t recognize her.
Jeff Kent is well-known to anyone to followed baseball casually in the mid-90’s to the mid-00’s.
She must have just followed the plan of splitting the votes, and was assigned Penner. Skupin was the extra vote for Penner - when they made the 4-4 plan, they just assumed Skupin would go along with whatever Penner & RC told him, based on the red team flipping him & RC.
The final vote was:
Penner: 5 - 4 of the plotters, plus Skupin
RC: 4 - other 4 plotters
Pete: 2 - Penner & RC, thinking they were following the red team + Skupin & RC flipped plan.
As a male who is about the same age of Lisa, and who crushed on her a little, I would not have recognized her on the island. I would not have even recognize her if I had not been announced prior to the show.
So if I am any indication, it is not automatic.
Penner recognize her, partly IMO, because he is the business.

He is an actor. Hence the additional irony of the title.
The only thing I’ve seen that he’s been in is Coneheads. I caught it once on TV.
He was also in Arrested Development once, which is another thing Dopers might have seen him in.
It’s the one where everybody brings their daughter to work.

The first ponderosa videos are up, RC is definitely the first member of the jury.
Oddly now that I’ve watched the ponderosa vidoes I have started to hate RC. She has this laugh and in the interview videos it’s CONSTANT. I’m going to stick something sharp in my ear if it continues in next week’s videos.
My two daughters are the prime age to be fans of Lisa as Blair in The Facts of Life. I am pretty sure they never missed it.
I recognized her voice right away. Now she looks like Blair’s mom.
Yes, Jeff Kent was a star baseball player and recently retired, but he doesn’t look that much like he did in his playing days. Amongst other things, he’s not nearly as muscular.
I actually wonder if there was some producer influence involved with that one woman recognizing him because her explanation sounded so sketchy(My boyfriend’s a baseball fan and I know who Jeff Kent is and that he’s worth 35 million dollars, as opposed to just saying "he’s loaded).
It reminded me of Gary Hogeboom, who’d been retired for 15 years and looked nothing like he did as a player and yet Danni recognized him right off the bat.
I’ve always been curious if there isn’t some prompting to get them to the correct conclusion. I think the lawsuits about fairness would be fastcoming if there was feeding of information, but if the question from the cameraman or producer in an interview was, “Does Lisa remind you of anyone? or Some of the other contestants have said that Lisa seems familiar, what do you think?” or “Wow, that Jeff sure can throw things fast! Have you noticed?” just to get the wheels turning. I think that could be enough to get people to figure it out, especially if they are already familiar with the field.
Give just enough information to instill the question but enough plausible deniability if needed.
Didn’t Danni Boatwright (recongnized Hogeboom) work in Sports before she went on Survivor?
Yes, but she would have been about 15 when he retired, and in single digits when he was a starter in the league.
