Who goes tonight and why ?
I think that Ken will be voted out tonight. I think Bad Penny has something going on. But I also have this awful feeling that Brian is going to be going soon. He seems a bit cocky, like he’s being set up to fall.

I’m along the same lines with Ken, but I don’t feel like my reasoning is that solid. This is a tough week to guess because of the merge issue and the fact that there are a lot of people set up for a downfall yet none stand out.
I would tend to keep Ken as long as the merge hasn’t happened. They need his strength as a separate team. As much fun as it might be to ogle Erin, she would be taking a walk.
As for the other tribe, I would drop Jan in a heartbeat.
Penny, or Jan.
And thanks for saving the minty man from having to do this this week!
Well done.
If Chewing Gum maintains the upper hand, I’m sure Ken will be booted. If Soup Guy wins, it’ll be Jan who’s out. No cross-tribal alliances will go anywhere tonight. Maybe next week, though.
You guys think there will ever be a merge?
If so, when?
Hard to see how it could be much later than next week, especially if the tribes remain at unequal strength. I think MB missed out on an opportunity with his cuteness. Was a fun jolt, tho.
Has this season featured more alcohol than prior ones?
Predictions:
Jan is a goner. I think they finally have a tough physical challenge for immunity tonight. Bye bye Jan. Teams are back to even.
Magilla continues his rein of terror. Magilla also will continue to outwit the Survivors.
Jan says a bunch of dumb things and cries when she gets voted out. Much is made over the fact that she is on the jury.
Questions:
I wonder when they will do the merge-- it would be interesting if they didn’t. Not sure they have the guts to do it. Sure would make it very interesting.
Is this the week that Helen snaps and goes on a killing spree?
Re: Continued Team Competition (preview-based analysis)
Previews of tonight seem to indicate another team immunity challenge with the underwater whatever it is. You can clearly see the immunity idol sitting on the platform, and the contestants are divided into their usual teams and colors. It’s not clear whether all nine players are participating, however, so there may still be something up here. But it looks like a straight team IC.
I don’t think the tribal competitions can go on for much longer. They completely kill any chance of cross-tribal plotting and scheming, since nobody will be stupid enought to repeat Shii Ann’s mistake while there’s still a chance that they people you’re turning on will be the only ones with you at tribal council.
I think they should hold off the merge for one more round, so they Soup Guys have a chance to even it up, and then merge next time either way.
Hopefully tonight we finally see the last (until the jury) of Granny.
My question is: assuming there is no merge tonight (or a merge following the boot), are all 9 members of the jury going to be invited to TC? It seems a bit unfair if just the losing tribe went to TC tonight, and members of the jury were unaware of pivotal information.
I just checked ABT
Chewey Gahn wins both the IC and the RC. Ken is out.
I suspect that whoever gets voted out tonight will be someone who’s had a lot of camera time. (Meaning Jan is a likely candidate.)
The fact that the remaining Soup Guy members haven’t been featured much on camera makes me think they will be around for a while yet.
But they are aware of pivotal information, since they’re living together. I do agree they should be allowed at TC, since whoever is voted out from this point on will be on the jury, but they are seeing what goes on all the time, since they’re together all the time.
My two cents: They’ll merge (for real) tonight.
I hope Crazy Granny Jan goes.
(I’m not clicking on dragongirl’s spoiler…I want to be surprised)
Of course, everyone was a lot more tight-lipped than you’d expect them to be at this point, since they’re still separate and all.
I haven’t a clue what’s going to happen at this point. Sook Jai is down to three members, and they haven’t come within canoe trip’s length of winning an immunity challenge as of late. I have no idea if there ever is going to be a merge. This could cause a logistical problem when one or the other is down to two (and it might happen as early as the next TC), but we can count on Mr. Burnett to have a contingency plan for that.
I dunno about this move. Having an automatic merge may have led to a few predictable votes, but it freed up everyone to interact with each other and really get cutthroat. Last season’s ouster of John (when he built a virtually bulletproof alliance, only to tip his hand at the immunity challenge and see it come crashing down) was one of the greatest moments this show has ever produced, something which could never have happened without everyone getting in on the act. Back then, round 8 was when the serious contestants shifted into high gear and started kicking butt. Now everyone’s just sitting around, watching their backs, waiting for something to happen and hoping that they’re not next. IMHO, adding a little surprise to the game isn’t worth this.
…Hey, I’m the first person to respond! How wild is that?
My thoughts:
Thanks, Burnett, for all those closeups of puddles of urine. I could not have enjoyed that more!
Is Jan even aware how the game is played? Is she aware she’s even in a game? What a freaking loony. And did you see her legs when she was burying the chicken parts? I couldn’t tell which legs were hers and which were the chicken’s. She looks like death warmed over.
OK - the challenge is to handle yourself well underwater, breathing calmly under stress. Who should we sit out? Why, the Navy freaking swimming instructor, of course!!
That love fest from the losing tribe (I still can’t keep track of which is which) came right out of nowhere. Who knew they felt that way? I think Erin was the right choice, incidentally. She seemed like their weakest member somehow. I can’t put my finger on it, but she just seemed lest competent.
Probst’s words at the end about not giving up hope? Translation: “Next week I will be throwing you a major major bone. Buck up, little campers.”
I don’t think that Erin was in a lot of trouble. There’s this idea of the Goat, Bear, Bunny and Fox that applies to every alliance. Erin was the Bunny out of the four left, that seems to be the only reason she was voted out.
Jan is definatly a nut. She has a pet cemetary ? She needs to be put in a nice soft padded room for a while.
I’m liking Ken and Jake a whole lot more. I hope Penny is gone next week.
I really hope I’m wrong and Brian goes the distance, he’s the most interesting one now, he’s hot too.
It was mentioned on the TWoP boards that they have to pick the person to sit out before they go to the challenge…it was just dumb luck that this time it was Helen when it was a swimming-type challenge.
I think this it going to be what people have wanted all along. One tribe totally self-destructs, and we’re left with one tight tribe who then must start picking off their own members.
Obviously, CG would get rid of Crazy Jan first, but then what? They do seem pretty close. Maybe this will be be the blood bath that some people have wanted to see in the previous years.
And they’re peeing in the cave? That’s just gross.
Jan? She needs some nice drugs to have in her nice soft padded room. She’s gone 'round the bend. A funeral for the chicken head, and burying it next to the bat, so they can be friends? Um, okay.
And it really grates on my nerves when she calls them “children.”
As in, “Children, we have Tree-Mail!”
Helen? Lay off the recipes. That would bug me, too. Talking about things you make is one thing, but going over exact ingredients (“one-half cup of sugar, one teaspoon of vanilla, mix it well…”), is annoying. No one was writing it down, okay? Stop it.
I suspect the merge will be next week, but last week I suspected the merge would be this week, so what do I know? Helen looks like a possible team-jumper, with her comment that she’s just going to go with the flow. Jake got a LOT of face time this week–he’s either being set up as a surprise comeback or a tragic fall.
The Erin boot surprised be, but in retrospect, it shouldn’t have. She was clearly the dispensable member in the alliance, and they’ve got to vote as if it’s going to continue to be team competitions. Erin was just a follower, not a leader, and followers inevitably get lopped off.
ABT officially has no clue. They should just give it up.
My reaction to the show:
23 minutes in, and they are holding the immunity challenge? WTF? Where is the reward challenge? Before the show is half over we knew which tribe had immunity. And after that-- much crying and hugging-- for 30 minutes. Ugh. Worst episode of this season by far.
Penny obviously has a deal with Ken and Jake. Little did Erin know that when they asked her if she wanted to know, the vote was for her.
Granny has officially lost it, by the way.
Horrible episode all around. Hopefully next week is better.
It would explain some of it, if they had to name the man out before the challenge. Have folks garnered that from interviews? Maybe someone remembers more than me, but it doesn’t seem to me that Helen has done much of use in the water - which strikes me as odd for a supposed swim instructor.
Why was Jake so upset - as tho he single-handedly lost the challenge. How bout his teammates who nly lasted a coupla seconds?
Why the shots of Erin’s bikini bottom (well, besides the obvious!) Was Clay supposedly eyeing her? Was she supposedly somehow trying to “pose” her way to remaining?
On her behalf, it would be sad to realize the other 3 had an agreement to vote her out, despite their professed love. I would have wanted to know before hand - cause if it was me, I’d try to counteract it.
It has been said before, but bears repeating - Granny is bonkers.
Where did all the noodles come from? I thought these guys were supposed to find their own food.
Someone teach Fat Albert how to do crunches.
I got the impression that Helen know she is gone after Granny, and will act accordingly. Brian and Ted think they can use Clay to ditch the two women, then they will ditch Clay. Brian know he can beat Ted in the finals.
Helen’s only hope is to switch allegence after the merge. That is if they do merge. Rob was a PITA, but I bet they miss him now. . .
Oh- Nice IC preformance by Penny and Ken.
