I like Jill, the ER doc on the older tribe and Tyrone. Everyone else can suck it. I fear we may have a power struggle between crazy Jimmy and Marty on that tribe.
Yeah, I think this was a bad experiment. The thing is, the kind of challenges that might favor the older tribe would have to be mental - quizes on knowledge, say - aren’t exactly photogenic. And who imagined that an extra heaping scoop of (sorry) wrinkliness is what the viewers wanted?
And I totally don’t get the near-worship attitude towards the Coach that Probst displays in his blog. But maybe that’s because I’m A) female and B) have never voluntarily watched a football game in my life.
This may be the season I bail on early, or just watch episode by episode later if the buzz on Thursday is good. The youngsters are mostly douchebags and the old farts are old farts. I want skin, sneakiness, more skin and some physicality. This season promises none of that.
Naonka is a teacher. What parent will want her teaching their children after her behavior on this show? She’d better progress far in this game and enjoy the money because I sincerely doubt there’s a school on earth that would hire her.
Eh. I want the Eagles to take a flying leap this year, so it don’t bother me none. For a change.
I will give Coach a hell of a lot of credit – or perhaps it was the editing? – but he seemed a lot more human and a lot less bombastic than I generally perceive him to be. I fully expected to be all bristly and stuff, but bless his heart, he sure did seem to enjoy and respect the game.
These paradigms shifting without a clutch can’t be good for me. Can we bitch about NaOnka some more?
Hey Jimmy T? Why does Coach gotta ‘put you in’? He’s not the actual leader of the tribe. You’re all equals in the eyes of the vote. If you want in, YOU make it happen, you don’t beg to be put in. (but btw, if you DO get put in, you’d better perform)
Jimmy J, didn’t seem to fight very hard to stay in. He seems like a pretty good manipulator. Either it wasn’t very interesting, or it was a foregone conclusion.
Either way: booooo!
The past few seasons they’ve been doing that more often in the early goings so they can show more ‘at the camp’ stuff. Once they lose more people, less stuff happens.
I can usually say that I will not like the beginning of the game, but expect things to get better in the middle or end of the game. This one? I’m not so sure. I think they need something to shake it up, I hope it comes this week or next.
I think Espada (“older tribe” – Probst insists on never using the actual tribe names) may have made a terrible mistake. The past few seasons, players have been jumping into the individual game way too early and completely forgetting the team aspect. Jimmy J was not the strongest player physically, but the guy is a hell of a motivator. And I didn’t really see much of a power struggle. Unless the editing is deceptive, he never proclaimed himself the leader because he’s a famous coach. People just looked to him and he responded. I don’t think his humility was an act. If Marty or Jimmy T wanted to actually step up and, you know, lead, instead of just bitching about stuff, they had every opportunity to do so.
Plus, JJ single-handedly pulled Holly back from the brink of insanity; look for her to start going back off the deep end. I see this tribe self-destructing very quickly.
As for the other team, they are truly the biggest bunch of chuckleheads the show has ever seen. Is this who’s trying out for Survivor now, or are they deliberately casting to look more like Big Brother and The Real World? I like one-legged Kelly, and I’m not yet sure about Benry or Alina. All the others can go away right now for all I care.
NaOnka is a cartoon. I can’t believe a person like her really exists.
I read over at the TwOP boards that she was recruited for this season.
If she’s a teacher, I cannot see her having that attitude IRL unless she’s daring her district to fire her. It’s so over-the-top that much of it HAS to be an act, IMO.
I think *all *Survivors are recruited these days; there haven’t been any walk-on applicants since Fans vs Favorites. So this crop of knuckleheads and psychos is what Mark Burnett thinks we want to see.
I thought the strategy at this point was to lead quietly behind the scenes, if at all – no one wants to be The Leader with the target on his back. Marty’s making a big mistake. (But that’s assuming he’s ever watched the show before.)
