Survivor -Season 42

I wouldn’t mind having double or triple Tribal Councils each episode at this point. They could have this thing wrapped up in 2 or 3 more episodes.

This is the first time I actually felt sorry for Survivors in a challenge - people passing out, nearly getting decapitated, blundering crotch first into obstacles, all of that was always just humorous. But fighting with those ladders in that surf just looked absolutely brutal. I’m guesing that’s normally the calm side of the island but either the wind turned around that day or a storm passed reasonably close to that side of the island.

It was during the challenge that I realized that it would be nice to have the two struggling teams battle it out until both teams go out on medical, and then they could wrap the season up in 2 or 3 more episodes.

Didn’t one guy say something like he wanted to get the the merge(?) or some point in the game where no one would know he had an advantage? I guess he forget about all the other players that he told about his advantage. And what about the guy who insisted he actually read the instructions for the advantage? Why didn’t he get told to fuck off? I don’t think anyone this season knows how to keep a secret or shut the hell up.

Survivor may have run it’s course. Can a wedding be far off? Perhaps officiated by Jeff?

some of the worst game play by Chanelle, who professed “…that is the power of my social game: I can direct the votes without even having one”, but failed to direct the actual vote, or take any responsibility for directing the vote…

her vote? she lost after saying “I do not want to do anything that will risk my vote” and then proceeding to chose the “RISK YOUR VOTE” option.

I really liked this episode. Kudos to Jeff for not letting the players die :).

And damn - You know they’re going to try and vote Jonathan off now, because he’s “too strong”. But it was amazing to watch him just demolish that challenge, dragging his teammates by the face over the finish line.

He’s pretty easy on the eyes, too…

The preview made it look like it goes to his head.

Survivor might have run it’s course. Too bad, I love this show. But it seems like they are going out of their way to fuck it up.

Count me in among those who really enjoyed this episode. Besides Chanelle’s deliciously terrible play nicely recapped here, I’m surprised that no one has mentioned Daniel’s even more horrific performance at Tribal Council. But at least he didn’t have to draw rocks, I guess.

For whatever it’s worth, I absolutely love this shot from right before the epic Immunity Challenge:

Jonathan is my favorite. I was amazed how he carried that ladder all by himself. What a beast! He’s safe until they’re on their own, no one will want to go against him.

It’s so crazy how different groups view his season. Over on the Survivor reddit they’re loving this season.

Hmm, I’ll have to swing by and check it out. Maybe the know something I don’t.

The blue tribe bores me. Romeo is really the only interesting character.

I hope Johnathan doesn’t get booted right away at the merge. He’s actually fun to watch and and Survivor fan should know that he won’t really have an advantage in the individual immunity challenges.

You know, I don’t think I’ve seen a team hate each other as much as that tribe does. Wow. So chilly at tribal council that I think a frost warning was issued.

Just caught up on The Amazing Race and Survivor, though I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet.

I’m loving the duo of Jonathan and Lindsey. (sp?) Jonathan’s utter dominance speaks for itself, particularly in the water challenges. And Lindsey is no slouch herself. In the first episode of the season, the very first challenge, Lindsey had an r/MyPeopleNeedMe moment when Jonathan came back with the oar. She took off like she was shot out of a cannon. I rewound it like three times, laughing the whole time: “My people need me!!!”

In that same challenge, it’s worth noting that Tori was right on Jonathan’s heels the whole way, finishing that first leg right behind him. And then last week she was one of the boat towers. She’s no Jonathan, of course, but she’s impressed me in just about every challenge so far, as has Lindsey. Unfortunately, and unlike Lindsey, Tori’s social game is for shit.

So those are the three I’m rooting for: Jonathan, Lindsey, and Tori, in that order. Hopefully none of them got voted out last night. I’ll try to make a point of watching it before coming back to the thread.

I saw that same preview you did, and got the same impression, but it never happened in the next episode. I’m thinking it was tricky editing, since ‘Rocks’ (?!) ended up being the one barking out orders and pissing people off.

It will be interesting to watch. Folks like that are so obviously a thread in individual challenges usually get voted out for that very same reason. But if they are dominate enough they can keep winning. A balance or puzzle challenge will be his downfall. But like you, I’m pulling for him.

Yeah, we were calling him Aquaman.

But most individual challenges are not strength oriented. Endurance, balance, etc. Not brute muscle.

They did that FUCKING stupid “game changer” thing again. There is no real choice. Of course the dude is gonna pick the choice that gives him immunity.

Right? That hourglass thing is just fundamentally stupid.

At this point, Omar is starting to overtake Tori in my rooting interests. His play in last night’s episode was next level.

(paraphrased)
Jonathan: I’m the target but I can’t campaign, as that looks desperate. I need you now, Omar.
Omar: I got you fam.
Omar and Lindsey proceed to get everyone to vote out Lydia, including Hai, who had just gone to rocks for Lydia as a demonstration of loyalty.

Wow. Just, wow. I say ‘Omar and Lindsey’ because she was part of the PR campaign, but I got the impression that turning Hai was all Omar.

I would be thrilled with an Omar/Jonathan/Lindsey final 3.

Omar, being completely safe AND not having a vote, choosing to still make moves is the mark of a great player.

Also, no one seemed to notice it, but it seemed like Lydia was the best at puzzles of those remaining. Smart to get her out early.

That’s an excellent point. Now that you say this, I bet that was an actual topic of conversation that made the eventual tribal council outcome too obvious so they left it on the cutting room floor.
