Jeff Probst and an all new cast are returning to Fiji this Wednesday, Sept. 29th at 8pm. Once again, the contestants are shoe horned into one of three tribes based on some chosen (and possibly arbitrary) characteristic. We’ve got the heroes, the healers and the hustlers battling it out for one million dollars which, to be honest, sounded a lot more impressive 17 1/2 years ago. The cast looks pretty good in that some of them appear to not be bartenders from L.A.
Bonus question. Can anyone name the winner of last season? Even though it’s only been four months, I can’t remember anything from that season other than Tai’s complete breakdown as a functioning human being.
I’m still excited. It’s an all-new cast, and the last three 6v6v6 seasons were pretty good ones on the whole.
Looks like a really young cast though - I count one 43 year old, two 46s, and no one else over 35. Weird to think I’m now on the old side of the median Survivor age.
Somewhat ho-hum first episode. I thought Krissy might play the Idol to save Katrina but then when they showed the votes it made sense why she didn’t. Production really overblew the Alan stuff to make it look up in the air.
I always have a tough time getting into the first few episodes, since it’s likely the people getting the most camera time will be gone in a few weeks, but that challenge rocked. Pick your tilt puzzle, drag it up a 30 ft. ramp, then solve it. And it was great that the team that got “stuck” with the rail puzzle came in first.
the former NFL player who’s playing the “paranoid” role won’t last long…making someone drop their pants to prove he doesn’t have an idol isn’t exactly a “group hug” kinda move…
Yeah that was a head scratcher. It seems like Katrina would have been an obvious ally for her. She’s probably making the common survivor mistake of ‘if I vote with the group they will like me’.
I liked the first episode, the season has potential. Though I would like to see some older contestants.
Agree that the NFL guy is a dick. Hope he goes soon.
I really disliked the super-dooper Idol and I’m glad it didn’t get played. The first person to be voted off should be the person who struggled to make a connection with others. Had the idol been played, the person who actually had to leave the game would have left through no fault of his/her own. I don’t see how that is fair. It’s better that the players have some control over their own destinies.
At first I thought it was just a regular Super Idol and I was pissed since that thing was crazy unbalanced. But with the requirements on it (only play at first tribal, need to give to the other tribe if you don’t use it) it turned out not so bad. You raise a good point though that in week one it could easily punish someone in a way that seems like bad luck (especially if it came from another tribe, since there’s not much time to sniff an idol out).
I think the guy who found it (Ryan) actually used it in a good way by telling the other guy (Devon) about it. Usually I think telling people is a big mistake, but he wouldn’t get to play it anyways, so makes sense to try and use it to build an early alliance.
Yeah, he has to go next. Get him out of there before he destroys the tribe. Same with the bully on the Healers team who tried to shake down the Urologist guy. I would’ve just told him to back off, and that I didn’t owe him any explanation about anything. Who the fuck are you, the Tribal Secret Police???
I agree about the bully on the Healers team, I thought he was way out of line. I can’t figure the football player out, I think it’s some bizarre strategy he’s using. I just don’t know how he thinks it’s going to advance him in the game.
He’s trying to play it off as strategy but I don’t believe him. I think he really is kookoo/paranoid and is just saying its strategy in the side interviews to keep from looking like the dick he is.
It’s early enough to reform team alliances, they should tell him to fuck right off with his interrogation and strip searches.
.
Makes sense, because really what the hell kind of strategy could being paranoid and an ass be? I could very slightly understand it, not appreciate it, but get it, if he had a few idols in his back pocket and just didn’t care because his plan was to just play idols to proceed through the game. I agree, they need to get rid of him or confront him about his tactics.
Yes I thought he same thing 'they will like me" when the reality is they look at her as the old one in will be gone next. She should have teamed with Katrina to can the NFL guy who should have been the first out.
Anyone wanting to look down my pants would have been turned into the producer as a sexual predator and they could just take him out. What a sicko. He has probably been a bully his entire life and gotten away with it.
