The ESPN site says the continuation of last night’s suspended game between the White Sox and the Orioles has not been rescheduled.
Official baseball rule 4.12.b.1 clearly states:
A suspended game shall be resumed and completed as follows:
(1) Immediately preceding the next scheduled game single game between the two clubs on the same grounds; …
Which would make it tonight by rule.
So is the continuation tonight? What to the local papers (Chicago and Baltimore) say?
Yes, I believe the continuation of the game, which was played several weeks ago, is tonight. Because there was no next regularly scheduled game at that park (Comiskey), the game is being played in Baltimore, but the Sox have last ups, as if it’s their home park.
p.s. I know it’s called U.S. Cellular field, but there are a lot of us who hate all that that name stands for, and who go back far enough that we simply call the field that the Sox play Comiskey.
p.p.s. little known fact: my dad lived next door to the Comiskeys when he was just a lad. (I don’t know why it’s not a better known fact, but there you have it.)
