Gasoline prices for 89-octane unleaded and 92-octane unleaded just jumped 10 cents per gallon at popular Chevron station here in the Silicon Valley. Premium unleaded is now $2.23 per gallon.
Since gasoline prices are determined by supply and demand, I have to wonder: How much has the recent popularity of low-mileage SUVs affected the demand for gasoline? How much is it responsible for the price increases we’ve been seeing this year?
