Swedish Match AB can keep selling cigars in the U.S. under the Cohiba brand, according to the Supreme Court, which turned down an appeal by Havana-based Cubatobaco without comment. Story on Bloomberg, no web link available.

A Federal judge in New York had barred Swedish Match’s General Cigar unit from using the Cohiba trademark in 2004, a decision reversed by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, according to Bloomberg.

So, looks as though this one is set to keep rumbling on, not unlike that other golden oldie, the Havana Club rum trademark dispute.
