Sweet Baby Jeebus These Boys Wre Dumb!

Jumping on oil tanks is very stupid, but not obviously fatal. I would have expected the kids to crack their heads open long before blowing themselves up.

I wonder if by jumping they meant dancing around the vent pipe.

Jumping on an oil tank was fatal this time.
My father worked in the oil fields back during the depression. He told me of oil field workers that would use casing head gas (naturally occurring light hydrocarbons very similar to gasoline) to wash their clothes. Every so often when conditions were just right a static spark would cause the pail of gas to go boom! As a result there would be a opening on the crew for a new worker.
The point is not everything that comes out of the ground is bunker crude. Some very light volatile things also come out of the ground Like natural gas. Things that go boom quite easily.
Hopefully Darwin got them before they had a change to procreate.

It is a pity about the dog.

Sulphurous, smoking taxi draws up

In you get.

People are feeling bad about the dog more than the kids? Geez, I dont think it matters how stupid and self-caused human death is, I think one should place more value on it than a dog.

Sorry for thread-shitting, but I just couldn’t hold it in.

As an aside, I bet that third kid sure feels lucky.

The humans supposedly should have known better. Can’t say the same thing for a dog.

The dog had no choice. It dies because some people were stupid. As much as we try to deny it or fight against it, the Universe is heartless bitch that holds Stupidity as a capital crime.

I’d still mourn their loss if I knew them. I am sure their parents and grandparents are feeling an almost unbearable grief now, whether or not it was a stupid way to get killed. Kids do stupid things; it doesn’t mean the world isn’t worse off when a kid gets killed.

I like dogs and everything, but they’re just dogs.

I’m guessing that’s true for everyone in this thread but we didn’t know them. To us, they’re a couple of dead idjits who took a dog with 'em.

Well, I feel sorry for the kids and, especially, their families.

That said, I’ll leave aside the Darwin Awards and nominate that story for the Understatement Of The Year Award – “Some poor judgements were made.” Indeed
