Swiss Spam: Anti-American email regarding my website

Well, since the infamous American Servicemembers’ Protection Act (aka The Hague Invasion Act) bill actually is real, it becomes more and more difficult to determine whether some piece of shit is satire or real.

Actually, I have to admit it gets pretty hard for Americans, too. I was convinced at one point that Ann Coulter was taking the piss, but then she stopped being funny.

But have you seen whitehouse.org? And do European humor sites get mailbombed and hacked by Americans that don’t get the joke?

Well, I wrote the guy back. I asked a friend of mine to craft the response—he’s especially gifted at writing scathing emails. He came up with (in my opinion) a thing of beauty.

I (or rather, my friend) essentially wrote that Reto was a boor to write a stranger on the Internet, just to insult their country. And I told him not to worry, if we did go to WW III, the Swiss would probably find a way to make money out of it.

No, I don’t really think badly of the Swiss people, at all. But I thought this guy deserved a little of what he dished out.

On the other hand, Mr. Reto the Oh-So-Precise-Swiss-Dingbat could better spend his time complaining to the commericial air traffic authorities in his home country as to why their entire TCAAS was shut down. Hmmmm, Mr. Swiss Smarty-Pants?

p.s. YB, what’s the site? Happy and safe 4th!

I am not a ‘manxie’ (a native manx) I have only been here for half a year. But I know a few manxies who would display the george cross. Particularly my boss at work. he supported England with a passion in the world cup.

I am a ‘woolyback’ with scouse background/blood. (woolyback meaning I was born in Lancashire, scouse being the name for natives of Liverpool) I am as patriotic as the next Brit.

The Isle of Man, although it is technicaly independent in some weird unique way, feels just like England to me. I miss big cities though.

Not by me it wouldn’t. What’s wrong with that? Why on earth would someone view that in a negative light?

Ack. I should have read his next post before I offered a serious response to his earlier post. Silly me.

Well, one hint would be when you hit the “Feedback” link to e-mail them, the first thing it says on that page is:

it might be a clue.

Even this petition to revoke Tom Cruise’s citizenship is sufficient. I just wanted to say that this particular bill could well be part of a parody, yet it’s real.

You’re kidding, aren’t you, Schnitte?

He’s referring to http://www.whitehouse.org.

He probably worked himself into a righteous rage, decided to cool off at an American-made film while laughing at our sex-and-violence prone society, then went to McDonald’s with his buddies for a couple of quarter-pounders while debating the horrendous American fast-foodization of society.

Do you guys still wear lederhosen and yodel a lot?

Yupp, and I’m referring to the American Servicemembers’ Protection Act.

I understand. When you said “this particular bill” you were referring to the Hague thing, but I thought you were referring to the petition to revoke Tom Cruise’s citizenship. Carry on.

Two words: Swiss Steak.
I’m actually of two minds regarding overt patriotism (just in general, now). I think that the US is one of the greatest nations on earth. We have voting representation, a high level of personal freedom, and right now, more influence in the rest of the world than any power since Imperial Rome. But we’re just two hundred years+ old. With time, we should get more perspective. I applaud everyone who loves this country and feels that they want to plaster RWB and the Star-Speckled Banana all over. I just don’t do it myself. I choose to celebrate my patriotism in other ways. Like voting in every election I’m eligible for. Like giving my country my service for as long as they’ll have me. Like arguing the relative benefits of the US system in a well-modulated tone as often as I have occasion to. That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

And at least we don’t have “Switzer” in our name.

Did you mean GWB?

heehee…Star-Speckled Banana…heehee…

RWB = Red White Blue

I think.

Well, I got a reply from the Swiss Spam King:

First off, I believe that the Twin Towers thing would have happened even if Gore had been president, or Clinton. Had we had our shit together sooner, it might not have happened, but we didn’t.

Another thing that is annoying—His statement here:

What a frickin’ MORON. I have over 100 pages on this site. Maybe 200 by now, I’ve stopped counting. TONS and TONS (about 50 MBs worth of graphic files) of Yosemite and California photography.

This guy acts as if my site is one big flag-waving patriotic-fest! What an idiot! I have probably have a hundred of scenic photography pages. I think I have 3 patriotic wallpaper pages. That’s frickin’ it.

And, as a rule, I am not big on excessive displays of most anything that is dear to the heart—patriotism, religion, political affilations, etc. I didn’t think my wallpaper was over the top in any way. Most of my wallpaper designs are simple scenic photos from around America, with the slogan “God Bless America” or “America the Beautiful” at the top or bottom of the image (I try to give people a choice of either slogan). I thought these were pretty subtle. They might be good for someone who wants to express their patriotism in a little more discreet way—they don’t want to stare at red white and blue on their computer desktop all day. And yes, I also have a few out-and-out red-white-blue patriotic designs (like the ones you see on the earthlink site I have listed in my profile). I believe these designs will always be appropriate as well. (The traffic on these pages has peaked in the last few days, because of the 4th of July.) So, what’s the big freakin’ deal?

Possibly it’s just that Reto is an assmunch and you should merely ignore him as someone who’s not worth wasting your time over?

Somebody nutso or ignorant enough to say something like this isn’t worth talking to.

What a loon.

I’m not going to lose any sleep over what this guy thinks.

He is an ignorant, arrogant asshole, though.
