Hey folks,
I use both a mac and a PC at work, both running two monitors - for a total of four monitors on my desk.
I’m looking for a box that would allow me to use both of my computers on the same two monitors, switching between the two on the fly. I’m not too concerned about the problem of juggling two keyboards and mice.
I’ve scouted around a bit online but no luck finding a switch box that supports two monitors.
Any suggestions?
I’m a little confused about your setup (4 monitors and 2 computers?), but I’m using a Belkin switcher on my setup at home. Basically, my Mac and PC are sharing the same monitor. The switcher has four ports on it that allow up to four different machines to use one monitor. I’m not sure of the exact model number, as I’m at work, but if this is what you need, I can get you the information later…
yup - four monitors and two computers. Each computer has two monitors - I’d like to cut down to two monitors, two computers. I’d obviously still like each computer to run as a dual monitor machine.
I see- then the solution I have probably won’t work for you; you’re looking for a switcher that allows multiple monitors AND multiple workstations, not one monitor shared by multiple workstations…
As I’m sure you know, you can do this easily with TWO switches (one per monitor), but I’ve never seen a dual-monitor switch.
I suppose you could buy two of the old-fashioned mechanical-throw monitor switches (I like them best anyway) and rig something to make the two switches rotate in tandem, with clamps and connecting bars.
