In this thread, here apparently Rysdad’s username changed while he was posting. *How does this happen??!!??!?
That’llteach him to be sarcastic about religion.
Now pardon me while I go light some incense or something.
It’s the Invisible Pink Unicorn working in her myserious ways again…
I’m assuming Rysdad has sent an email to Tuba about this. It certainly is weird, given that presumably no confirming-email-with-password type stuff went on. These threads may have to burnt and the ashes consumed.
Personally, I would like to know exactly what Rysdad was doing. It seems that he’s stumbled on a rather significant bug, but without knowing how.
Turns out there’s a simple explanation.
Rysdad found an old screen name he had used prior to his current one – “MNDad.” Out of curiousity he hit the “email password” link and had the password sent to him . . . still curious, he signed in with it. Of course, the system then recognized him as “MNDad.” He made a posting under that name while not really understanding what he did.
We have removed posting privileges from the “MNDad” screenname.
If any of the rest of you have old screen names you’ve been afraid to 'fess up to, come on home, olly olly oxen free. No harm, no foul. I won’t even be aggravated. (I will be if I find 'em on my own, though.)

I’m not using Gaudere, Clark K, Phaedrus, or Cyberian54 any more, Tuba. Go ahead and wipe them out.
:d&r:
OK, that probably wasn’t funny at all.
For those of you just tuning in, I have never been registered on this message board as any other name but “andros.” Never.
Sorry, Tuba.
Well, I tried a few names that really didn’t suit me, which I quickly abandoned. I also don’t like this one much, so you can remove posting privileges from the lot, and I’ll try again. Psedonymery is harder than it looks, I guess.
Did Mark Twain have a few names that went straight into the wastebasket? (I’m betting he did.)

Okay, look, this is NOT the way to do it. It’s not a good thing to start a name, then abandon it.
We can change user names if your first choice is not to your liking. And we prefer that you deal with it that way.
However, we don’t like to do this more than one or two times; there’s a lot of stuff to do here just day to day and constant name changes are a burden on administrators and confusing to all the other users on the board.
So here’s what you need to do.
-
Give some thought to your new (final) user name. Be as fabulous as you wanna be, knock yourself out!
-
Drop me an email and tell me who you want to be.
-
I’ll change it.

We’ll all be happy.
Thanks.
