Switching Parties After an Election

Yeah, definitely. Not so much for West Virginia, but there are parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania where even if coal mining isn’t a massive part of the economy, it’s still an important part of the local culture.

I’m not sure what thread this belongs in but since there’s a concrete link to the post Bandit bungles of West Virginia governor Buford T. Justice (those are the same dude right?) I’ll put it here.

Here’s the theory…

  1. Justice switches to Republican party
  2. Rick Perry resigns from Energy to take over DHS
  3. Joe Manchin appointed Secretary of Energy and resigns his senate seat
  4. Justice appoints a Republican as interim senator from WV until a special election can be held.
  5. Obamacare repealed via 51-50 vote in the Senate. (Suck it McCain)

I don’t know why Manchin would go along with this, but I also don’t know a ton about Joe Manchin.

Is there any reason to take this speculation seriously?
