I am 21 years old but have had 2 ulcers been to a gastroenterologist many many times, have had acid reflux for as long as I remember, been put on a prev pack and prevacid (stopped taking the meds after I put on a quick ten pounds… damn I must be vain) and mostly just live with a constant burning in my chest and throat, milk helps some water makes me feel better, doesn’t help that I eat copious amounts of garlic in italian food, and tons of hot sauce and mexican food. Whiskey has also been known to give me day long indegestion.
Clever Hans, The man the myth the moron.
Another sufferer checking in. My list of given-up foods: Chocolate, beans and all forms of soda pop. The soda is a new one, and I have to say I am about 95% better since giving up all forms of carbonated drinks; I’m completely off Tagamet, which I was taking on a twice-daily basis before this. I always thought it was caffeine that was my worst trigger, but if I drink no soda, I can indulge in a little espresso each day with no heartburn. I note that the common ingredient in all the sodas I drank was phosphoric acid. Chocolate, however, is still heartburn inducer #1 for me.
