Syrain Civil War: Is Assad "Mopping Up"?

Very little news out of Syria these days-anybody know why? So, is it a safe assumption that Assad and his generals have won? And, if this is so, what now happens to the Syrians who left their homes? Will there be reprisals?
I read that some of the opposition groups are now switching sides (to ally with Assad)-this because they are afraid of the infiltration of Al Queda zealots.

The regime is winning and they have made every prediction about their fall come wrong. But, they have not own yet. The smart money is that they do not have the ability to take control of the entire country. But, then again, smart money was that they would have lost by now so who knows. Wars tend not to follow predictable scripts.

Well, the media was decidedly against Assad. Not unreasonable, given his history, but rather myopic when you consider that the rebels were openly backed by Al Qaida.

Given this, it’s hard to interpret the media silence on Syria as anything other than that Assad is winning, and they have no “good” (ie, pro-rebel) news to report.
