Taco Bell Fire sauce discontinued?

Try ebay! A seller there has a few listings right now. I find that if you check back every couple weeks there is usually someone selling it on ebay, and often for cheaper than Amazon.

So this silly thread actually got me to darken the doorway of Taco Bell this weekend. I don’t really like Taco Bell (it’s a craving about every two years) but I do like salsas and hot sauces and figured I give it a go. They had four: Fire, Diablo, Hot & Mild. I just tried them one by one on … a microwaved Wendy’s double stack, ALSO something I don’t really consider myself a fan of but there was apparently something (?!) going on last weekend.

Anyway, Diablo has a weird chemically flavor a bit like a new vinyl shower curtain liner that reminds me of disinfecting floor wax used in hospitals and funeral homes. Fire, Hot & Mild were all pretty good. I was particularly surprised at Mild being a viable condiment on the burger.

So Fire was available at my local as of a few days ago.

I’ve been just going to my local TB, order a burrito and grab a mitt full in a takeout bag every now and again. A poster up above mentioned the packets are stronger than the bottled version, and you know, they’re right.

In terms of “National Chains Hot Sauces that are actually Spicy” I find KFCs self-labeled hot sauce packets legitimately hot when I put it on their chicken.

Taco Bell’s fire sauce though is definitely weak sauce. Diablo just tastes weirder not hotter, and Mild sauce I actually enjoy the most because it’s not even pretending to be hot, it just has a good solid flavor.

Waste prevention my ass they have a shortage they can’t deal with and want people to root through their junk drawers for packets. It’s a crisis, a crisis! I’m taking TWO grips of fire sauce packets every trip, you suckers are on your own.

Surely the simpler solution would be, when the customer asks for three packets, you give them three packets, instead of twenty?
