Okay, I did it … and I wonder if I didn’t do it right, because it was easy. I made sure to keep my hands suspended above waist level, no resting on anything (and made sure my upper arms were always a bit extended, so they weren’t carrying any weight against my torso).
Mostly I did figure-eights in the air at chest or eye level. Sometimes, I just fluttered my fingers rapidly. One of the cats was riveted by this performance.
Carol you should have an easy time finding a legit school in Hawaii, with real Chinese lineage. It doesn’t need to be taught by a Chinese person but going to a real kung fu school with a real lineage is going to be better than someone who may have learned some moves from a correspondence course and then opened up a Tai Chi School To Take Senior Money.
There’s a local Tai Chi studio that is on one of my running routes. Been there forever. After this thread I decided to check their website out.
They offer “dan tsou” style? And have trial classes in evenings. I’ve suggested to my wife that we try one as a date night, if she can get it okayed by her PT and hip specialist (she has had multiple joint surgeries related to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome). It seems like something we can both get something out of. Not sure I’ll have the patience to stick with it though. Or if it can be done as a once a week thing?
