Poor little CreaseDog … El Hubbo and I took her up north to a lake with some friends this weekend and she hurt her tail!
She had a BLAST on Saturday, running and playing and chasing the ball and chasing the little girl and wagging and barking and panting and swimming and chasing squirrels (cute little red ones)… At about 10:00 PM she passed out; an hour later she got up and was holding her tail funny. She’d try to wag and would wince, turning toward her tail: OWWW!
Poor little Princess FuzzyButt.
Luckily, it’s healing. This morning the tail was at half-wag, a definite improvement.
The vet says she either sat on it wrong or someone pulled it. Both scenarios are possible, but I’d be surprised if the little girls in question, aged 7 and 9, would do that… Maybe accidentally, I suppose.
Anyone else have a doggie sprain/strain its tail?
Our dalmatian had tail agonies twice. I’m pretty sure neighborhood kids had pulled it, but I had no proof - just a strong suspicion. It was funny in a sad way - when she’s excited, her tail goes in a big circle, but when it was hurting her, it barely moved side to side. She got over it both times, none the worse for wear.
My parents’ cat had tail paralysis once upon a time. It was really weird, too, watching this cat wander around happily with her tail dragging down behind her. She had a really long tail, too.
Nobody knows what caused it. It eventually got better, though.
Dolly’s damn near broken her tail sitting on it. She gets it kinked under her when she’s too lazy (or too stupid, poor thing) to move it away from her body when she sits down. I have to wonder if yours might have gotten her tail caught in something and strained it trying to get loose.
