Tailor's Bunion anyone? (experiences with treatment)

I’ve been experiencing pain in my feet on the outside edges - most commonly when I hop to my feet and have to run downstairs quickly. Sometimes I have to walk very carefully sideways down the stairs in fact. Other times the foot just hurts - like a motherfuck if it’s bumped just right.

Saw the podiatrist, he diagnosed “tailor’s bunion” (a.k.a. bunionette - different from a regular bunion in that it affects the little toe rather than the big toe). Likely a combination of heredity (check), shoe problems (not so much, when you have feet the size of mine you don’t wear fashionable girly-girl shoes).

Treatment options: oral anti-inflammatories, new orthotics, maybe steroid shots (see “hurt like a motherfuck” above) and ultimately surgery if nothing else gives adequate relief.

Anecdotes please? what treatments have you tried, what wound up working, if you progressed to the point of doing surgery did it help?
