Take off for religious reasons

When my old employer had everyone take a training course on workplace harassment, we were told there was a “reasonable behavior” standard regarding such things.

If an employee is wearing a big emerald necklace, and you say, “Wow, that’s a nice necklace,” that isn’t harassment, because it’s a perfectly reasonable thing for anyone to say.

There are also “reasonable behavior” exemptions for a lot of laws. For instance, if someone is trapped on their front porch, obviously trapped by a fallen tree limb, it’s “reasonable” for you to go to try to rescue them, even if that is trespassing. Breaking open car windows to rescue kids who are suffering from extreme heat is another example. It would be mighty hard to find a DA who would prosecute such a case.
