Take that libs! Conservatives more generous to charities!

I realize this isn’t something one could possibly “cite”, but do you really believe that?

Maybe you do. After all, don’t super-rich Republicans listen to Rush and Hannity, and vote for Neanderthals?

Gosh, I fucked that up. Do you believe that super-rich Republicans are voting for Kerry and Kennedy? I rather doubt it.

The super rich are such a miniscule percentage of the poulation that it’s meaningless to try to extroplate anything about voting trends from them. The people who vote for Kennedy and Kerry are mostly working class people like everybody else.

Obviously, a majority, even a super-majority, of Massachusettsians do. Why are you so astonished at the mere thought?

Well, you’ve managed to take a generalization that may or may not be true, then oversimplified it to the point of stupidity - so I have to ask, what’s your point?

Which is exactly my point. The Northeast does not have the bulk of Republicans, rich or otherwise.

Are you serious? We’re talking about the Swimmer, Ted Kennedy, here. :stuck_out_tongue:

What does that have to do with the effectiveness of the job he does representing Massachusetts in the Senate?

They do not at least in the case of Ted Kennedy. He is a Kennedy, a celebrity senator, a caricature, a Kennedy, and someone who is old now so we should just let him die in his role. That is like saying that people in South Carolina thought that Strom Thurmond was doing an outstanding job as senator as aids wheeled him in and propped him into position every day at 100 years old. It has little to do with how well people think he is doing. His politics are well to the left of even the typical Massachusetts Democrat these days and he seems to spend much of his time figuring out how to keep evil wind energy from spoiling the views off of Cape Cod. I am not sure how Ted Kennedy fits in anywehere these days except of course, he is a Kennedy so he gets a special category.

You said rich Republicans originally. Now you’re changing your assertion.

It has nothing to do with it, Frank. It’s just Carol trolling as usual.

Damn, but we have a dull set of trolls on the board these days. One-note, predictable, tired old routines that were worn out decades ago. Where are all the entertainingly batshit crazies that were good for some fun before they flamed out?

Like a 'Pub would admit that?

That would be the category of those who get re-elected with 70% of the vote in a state that elected Republican governors three straight times.

I’ll weigh in here with a skewed opinion. I don’t like people, and I am proud of it. I do, however like dogs, and I’ll spend my time and efforts to help them. My wife and I spend our time and money helping abused and neglected animals. You all can help people, I have been bitten by as many humans as dogs.

It’s not as correct as helping folks, but we are much happier helping animals. So a liberal and a libertarian probably give over 1000 hours a year in moving, evaluating, fostering, and nurturing dogs. That does not count cash to animal related causes, my blood donations (I got moved to Gold by the Red Cross this year), or money to every cause from Katrina to Toys for Tots.

So take your conservative self congratulation and stick it up your distended ass. Let me know when you are willing to let your taxes actually be used to make a difference in somebody’s life that is not a defense contractor.

Right but that isn’t because anyone thinks he is doing an especially good job. It is more because he has built an image (with much family help) that there can be only one senior Senator from Massachusetts and he was created for that purpose. I put the Strom Thurmond example in there for a reason. People can simply become so used to seeing someone in a particular role that it just becomes the way things should look. I have never met anyone that is that a very big a fan and he plays his politics very cautiously in a sneaky kind of way. He votes a virtually straight Democratic ticket and doesn’t try to lead directly on controversial issues anymore. He switched over to a defensive game on subjects as varied as Iraq to wind farms blocking priceless views on Nantucket Sound.

To review.

*Carol’s interpretation: * the majority of the population in Massachusetts are super-rich Republicans.
…In other words, she’s dumb as shit (whether or not she’s a troll), so let’s not get hijacked by her.
For the record, I should have said blue states instead of NE to be safe (although that doesn’t change my argument one bit). But the Northeast is composed of NY, CT, NJ, MA, PA, MD, DE, VT, NH, RI. I’d feel reasonably comfortable guessing they have the bulk nationwide.

Maryland is not New England. Fuck you very much.

New England isn’t the Northeast. Fuck off.

Where, exactly, do you think it is?

Oh fuck. I liked the internet better when only geeks used it. New England is IN the Northeast. The Northeast and New England are not identical sets.
