What is the reason for it? I heard that DNA evidence will be taken from the victims of the Pakistani attack and DNA has been taken from Al-Qaeda and former Iraqi leaders. Do we have some DNA database to compare the samples and determine who the people were? If so, how did the military obtain it?
This is pure speculation, but remember that during the all-flights-grounded days right after 9/11/01, the US Government flew Osama’s (half-)brother(s) out of the United States. It is possible they asked for tissue samples at that time?
OBL is one of a large family, and there may have been other opportunities to get tissue samples from known relations, as well as relations of other known AlQueda figures.
And, of course, we had Saddam and gave him medical examination, and we had the remains of his sons Qudai and Usai (Sp?)
The reason given is to positively identify the bodies, and know whether they are the bodies of these leaders.
It can be compared to DNA from relatives to verify identity.
