I’m going to let my sister take over the payments on one of my trucks. Of course we want to make it all official so it’s in her name. How do we go about doing this?
Step 1) Find the company that you are currently making the payments to,
Step 2) Find their phone number.
Step 3) Ask them.
Have her take out a loan to buy the vehicle from you.
Upon just a little bit of thinking, I’ve realized that typeranma’s answer is a lot more correct than mine. I can’t imagine that any finance company would simply put her name and address in the records instead of yours, without running a credit check on her first. They are not going to let you off the hook without making sure that they trust her to make the payments. And if she’s that far already, she essentially IS applyingfor a new loan.
I frequent a legal forum. We have a top 10 list of things folks do that will result in them seeking advice from the forum. Letting someone take over payments on something that is financed is number 7. Number 1 is loaning money to a relative/friend. boytyperanma has the best suggestion.
