Tale of a Kitten

I’m glad you posted pics!

…going by this section alone,I wasn’t sure what to expect…

"Look at him… are those bite marks? Look at his hands and wrists and forearms…! What could have caused all of those dozens of long red welts…!? "
“Nothing Human, that’s for sure…”

So cute!

I especially like the one with him sleeping with his mouth open. None of my cats have ever done that!

He’s probably congested. I adopted a street kitten, who had the feline rhinovirus. She got over it, but it stays with them. She was very congested for a couple of weeks, but once we got rid of her parasites, so she was well nourished, and gave her some decongestants, she was fine. She lived to be 15, and in her last year of life, she would sometimes get stuffed up and sneeze a lot. The vet said that happens a lot to cats who had the rhinovirus as kittens. They become asymptomatic, but they have the virus for the rest of their lives, and when they get old, and their immune system slows down a little, they get symptoms again.

If you have a kitten who hasn’t been exposed, there’s a vaccine for it.

Yeah, he’s got what the vet called an upper respiratory infection, which may well be the rhinovirus. It is getting better and he doesn’t blow snot bubbles sleeping anymore.

Ninja Kitty is attempting to train us to feed the kitten every time someone goes into the kitchen…he needs to compare notes with the schnauzer who has been attempting this training for three years now. Ninja kitty, however, has critical hit levels of cute, so he may win!

Just out of curiosity, did you have Ninja Kitty tested for FLV and FIV? Not to be a downer and neither condition is necessarily chronic, but if NK is positive, he may have a compromised immune system and you and your vet need to be aware of that.

Cats usually trump dogs. My current Rottweiler at a little over 120 lbs is intimidated by very few things, but one of those things is Mean Cat. Mean Cat will make him vacate his 1/3 acre yard and hide under my desk with just a stare.

My tortie, Neko, is a kindred spirit of mean cat.

The vet wants him healthy, or at least over the upper respiratory goop, before we start working on vaccinations. I vaguely recal FIV being mentioned…

Aww, he’s a cutie! Good for you for giving him a home, and best of luck and health to the little Ninja!

looks like you have a tabby point siamese there. i have a chocolate siamese, silver tabby combo, he is a gorgeous boy.

best of luck with your wee ninja. so glad that you found each other.

Thank you rocking chair

I spoke to the vet today, he doesn’t have ringworm, the culture was negative. YAY!!

The wee beastie is growing like a weed, he’s more than doubled his size and it looks like he’ll be long bodied. His remaining eye is very blue and the patches of white fur around it really makes it beautiful. He is full of “piss and vinegar” and mischief, running outside every time a door opens. He says pickles are yucky but pizza smells interesting as does tuna.

DZedNConfused, do you have any more recent pictures of the kitty?

Of course

I need to get some of him outside.

How does Ninja get along with the brothers and sisters? And where are their pictures?

Oh jeez… this is what happens when I code manually:

Never mind. Ninja Kitty’s ninja skills are rubbing off on his human.

Yeah, I usually forget something when I don’t c&p my code :o

The older kitty is pouting, she won’t come out from her hidey hole behind my doll stuff until night time, then she’ll sleep with me. The dogs mostly ignore him but the schnauzer defends his food dish rigourously!

The older kitty will play slap-paws with her under the door until they are used to each other. I hope all the tests turn out well; I wouldn’t wish living with two cats using the air-lock system on anyone…

Ninja was having the time of his life, playing foosball with Mommy & Daddy on the slippery counter, stealing pens from the nice lady and climbing on the scale… chewing on that pointy thing she was holding when suddenly she picked up his tail and a VERY indignant and furious"MROWWW" filled the room. Temperature readings in the bum are very RUDE!

Vet says he is looking better every time he see the baby, his eye looks so much better and he just needs to gain a little more weight. He now weighs 2.34 pounds which is almost double what he weighed on his first visit. But we started his vaccinations today, his first distemper shot.
