Tale of a Kitten

someone is getting to be a big baby cat.

ninja looks so good. thank you for the update, i was wondering.

Ninja had another vet appt today. His adult teeth have just barely come in so he is four months old. He is into the gangly of kittenhood. He has grown long and tall but isn’t putting on weight, the vet suspects it’s the sinus and eye infections that are preventing it. He bounces off the walls and is a hyperactive live wire so he’s doing well.
He did NOT like getting his rabies shot and refused to speak to her again.

Sorry for not updating sooner.

The end of July, he had a swelling on his nose that concerned our vet. She consulted another vet, who is an expert in eye diseases in cats; the second vet felt Ninja kitty had Herpes, which is prevalent in kittens and feral cats and does ruin eyes. So our vet put him on an anti viral med, which we purchased through a regular pharmacy. I would like to have asked the pharmacist what he thought of filling a prescription for Ninja cat Olsen, but I was out of town and my hubby picked it up.

Fast forward to early August, the 10 I believe, Ninja looked so MUCH better. He was putting on weight, outgrown all his kitten fur and his eyes, while icky, no longer looks oozey and green. Our vet was excited that he was doing so well and said she’d be willing to remove the eye any time now.

So Ninja went in last Wednesday for enucleation and neutering, poor baby lost three out of four balls that morning!

He is doing great, though the “cone of shame” is frustrating, but his swelling goes down each day and the eye shows no signs of infection. He has worked out how to eat, drink, bite my arm and groom most of his body around the cone.

Conehead!

I guess Ninja is old enough to learn “it’s all fun and games until someone has to wear a cone.”

Glad they got the anti-viral all sorted out. He’s beautiful!

What a hamsome guy!

My male kitten, Buddy, Had his stuff removed two weeks ago. The vet wanted him to wear the cone of shame for three days.
Buddy took it off after three hours. They put it back on and he’d take it off again. The decided to let him lick.
He’s fine now.

Thanks for your update and for taking such special care of the little guy. Bast will look kindly on you for it.

He’s such a handsome young man! Definitely some Siamese.

What a handsome pirate cat! I’m glad to hear that he is doing better. Now he can fully concentrate on being the king of the house.

Thanks guys!

I wondered if he’d take the cone off but he really hasn’t tried much and since h’s a contortionist, he has worked out how to lick a fair amount of his appendages… he can still attack the schnauzer from behind.

His facial stitches look good, the swelling is way down. And there he goes! Shot out of a cannon to see why the door just shut.

Adorable.

Thank you!

He sort of looks like a ferret with that long body and smallish head of his… about as slippery to hold as well.

Even with a missing eye, that’s a stunning cat. Thanks for the update.

ETA: my Nikki had ringworm on her face as a wee street urchin, and if you look closely at her fuzzy widdle nose you can still see the scars.

Awww poor Nikki! paw bump

Thank you.

I am assuming this link will be all right… it is a Facebook page but it’s open so anyone can see it. Ninja went outside Saturday
