Talk is cheap; Marketing is harder than expected

Looking at that link, I see two of the toys that work for our dog, too - the Tuffys Ultimate Flyer frisbees and the Godog’s Furballz (the largest size). They work because they are round and there’s nothing to tear off.

And yes, if you sell beds and replacement covers are available, that’s certainly a positive selling point.

The problem with a lot of dog bed covers these days is that they are made of cheap material that separates at the seams, and the zippers suck (which is why I’d personally prefer Velcro, buttons or snaps). And sometimes you wash a cover and it shrinks so much you can’t get the innards back inside.

Hi JcWoman: I’ll buy an indestructible dog toy! I’ll put it to the pit bull and lab puppy tests for ya!

Seriously . . . is it permissible for you to post a link? If not, will you PM me with your site address?

If there are products that you use and you and your dogs love, say that!

I am a leash snob. If I were selling leashes, I would be sure to call out why I thought the one I was selling was better than what you can buy at PetSmart/Petco etc. For example, my go-to affordable leash are the ones by Mendota. They are soft rope, washable, don’t give rope burn, durable and comes in slip lead, martingale and clip styles and lots of colors. I can walk two 55lb dogs in one hand easily since the rope is small enough that both leashes fit comfortably in one hand, but won’t give me a rope burn if they try to bolt after a deer. The Kong ropes are harsh to the touch and I wouldn’t want to be holding one if a large dog decides he wants to be elsewhere.

I also have a lovely soft leather leash that is of bridle leather quality that is durable, soft enough to use all day and classy enough that you could go sit in the patio at your local restaurant and collect compliments all evening while you drink your cocktail.

My quest for the perfect coupler was never met despite checking all of my local pet stores and going to the god awful Super Pet Expo. It was finally achieved after a 2 year search at Pikes Place Market in Seattle from a random vendor. It is a hefty enough weight for larger dogs without being so heavy that it droops beneath their feet. I can attach either a super short hand loop or a longer leash on it and use it to take my dogs to the Farmer’s Market or on our annual fundraising trip to the office.

These are the types of stories I would want to see on a “personal” high end site. Tell me why I want to spend more money for your bed/leash/collar rather than having any old thing shipped to me next day for free from Amazon.

I do have that kind of thing on some of the products that we use, but I could definitely do more. I’ve been thinking of making a short video of my Capri going bonkers for one of the Nina Ottosson toys, and I’ve been waiting forever for my husband to make an “Ajax Approved” logo that we can apply to things we love. I’m tired of waiting… maybe I’ll make one myself.
