Cross a Realdoll with an AI with a suitable robot and if you can get the price right I’d expect you’d sell more of those to men that the entire motorcycle industry sells motorcycles plus maybe half the hot cars sold. It’s a big number.
All the fun and none of the headaches / expenses / heartaches. I suspect a lot of guys would go for that.
And with suitable tweaks to what the AI wanted in a “mate” I imagine women would buy a lot of these too. Imagine a BF who did read your mind and didn’t need “breaking in”.
I could easily imagine something like this precipitating a near-schism between the sexes and an absolute cratering of the birth rate.

The lesson I took away from those stories is that treating androids like disposable workers, sex slaves, and victims for murder hobos does not portend well for humanity.

At my job they were having a sensitivity training for all the low-echelon employees like me. The administrator said there’s no way AI would be able to find context for the documentation we write about our team members with developmental disabilities whom we coach. ‘So Teresa was mopping the floor at Walmart. She suddenly confided in whispered tone ‘My jenny’s bleedin’ like a stuck pig. Good thing I got extra pads.’ Me:’ Nice planning Theresa. [laughing on the inside].’ No AI could make sense of that probably.

I think it missed that connection since it’s mostly phonetic (vagina → 'gina → jenny), and that kind of spoken slang isn’t captured well in its textual training.
Suggesting sarcasm in the response is another swing and a miss.
Like many things where you need it to be as accurate as possible, at the very least any AI interpretation would need a human proof-reader. As also evidenced by needing to prompt the AI to understand “Jenny” in context.

How the hell do you write an article like that and not have a human record for comparison? Maybe I missed it, but, for those interested, the human record is 15.95 seconds, and the AI beat it at 14.48 seconds (though that article says 14.8 seconds – that’s not what we see in the video.)
