Okay, so I’m trying to earn enough money over this summer so that I can save up to buy a used car. (Right now I’m contemplating something under $4000 that’ll drive me around town, not break down much, and not kill me with gas refills all the time.) I’d like to know which car dealers in town that you’d recommend, and more importantly, a mechanic in town that you’d trust to not only do work on your car, but evaluate a car before you buy it.
Not sure about where to buy or service it, but as for what to buy:
Anything with a chromed H or a stylized chrome M on the hood and a clutch pedal. Old Civics and Accords get close to 40 miles per gallon and are exceptionally reliable. The only thing to watch out for is rust. Old Proteges and 626 s also fit the bill.
Interestingly enough, I’ve mostly been looking at older foreign cars with which I’ve heard good reviews as far as reliability goes, and your advice does follow what I’ve heard so far.
