TAR 3/4 - "I'm Sorry I'm Wearing A Bathing Suit. It Is Very Weird, I Know"

Unless you’re coming to Saskatchewan, in which case its on at 7 PM.

Hang on, is the time change this weekend??? Then it could be on at 8 here as well–best to check the local listings.

This may be one of the most enlightening pieces of blackmail … er, information I’ve ever gotten from a Dope Thread. (jayjay’s secret identity name, I mean.)

Duh!

Um…shifts eyes…she meant Jem…you know, like Jem and the Holograms! o/Truly, truly, truly outrageous!o/

That’s what she meant. nods

It’s on at 9 here in Alberta.

Well, he did win the home gym last night.

Which racer was it that looked at the small greeter man and said, “Charla’s going to be in love”? I thought that was just plain ugly.

As usual, I missed the first half hour while putting my children to bed. I do have it taped and, even though I know how it ends, I might go back and watch just to witness the Fear of Flounder.

Har! I loved Jem! And believe when I say, completely without irony, that a part of me is secretly thrilled that neons are coming back.

That pink hair suits you, darling.

OK, so it’s on CTV - check the schedule for the time, which can be anywhere from 7 to 10 PM (someone will surely pipe in and say it’s on at 10 in Newfoundland or something).

Naw - just a half an hour later - but the Newfies will say it’s a half-hour ahead.

You’ve been not-so-north for a while now, haven’t you? If CTV is airing the CBS show at the same time, the CBS channel gets overridden with CTV… doo-too-doo-ta-too-doo! Same reason F*cking Global denies us our Superbowl Commercials.
FWIW, if you’re in Québec or Ontario it will be on at 8, but the channel itself varies based on cable provider.

Yep, and when I am home it’s satellite since Mom and Dad are in the boonies.

Ah, the wonders of TiVo…

Great episode. I loved the soundtrackless bubbles going to commercial after Teri fell out. That’s when I knew she’d be fine.

No, Rob is NOT Jesus, but he has shown that even without the Robnoxious bullshit, he and his teammate are more than a match for anyone. He seems humbler somehow, and Amber seems like less of a useless tool. Mayhap reality has set in on the Reality Couple.

Good point, zut, about Uchenna and Joyce finding their stride in leg three again. And I haven’t seen a lot of their trademark, that being some of the worst navigating skills of any team ever. If they’ve overcome that, it looks like we’re in for a rematch of the Season 7 finale.

Standing in front of the SUV until the clue was read was classic Guido. Didn’t they block a door at an airport once in Season 1? It just occurred to me: Is their namesake dog itself named for the film Kiss Me, Guido?

This leg made it really clear who are the teams to beat and who are the also-rans. Days are numbered for Charla and Mirna, for one, but who didn’t see that coming?

  1. Mirna looks pretty good in a bikini.

  2. Loved how the camera man (or the editors) were careful to cut away before showing her ass in the bikini.

  3. I also thought that the comment from one of the cha-cha-chas about Charla loving the greeter was a bit rude…but then…How do I feel about TAR producers finding a little person to be the greeter?

  4. Lots of people freaked out about fish. Although in all honesty, the first couple of times I picked something like that flapping all over the place up I’d have been hesitant too. Looks like most people got over it pretty quickly.

  5. I also wondered what was going to happen to that poor guy that missed out on his day of work to ride along with Mirna/Charla. I’d like to see some rule like “you’ll be penalized the amount of time it takes to transport your local guide back to where you got them before you can check in”.

Still a great episode, and I’m still likeing the way the clues are being done this season as opposed to previouse ones. I’d like for less spoon fed transportation though, as that makes money about meaningless…since it seems like the teams can almost throw it away, rather than having to save and use it at the right time.

There are two reasons I’m cutting the Chas some slack with the “Charla’s gonna be in love” line. First of all, it could very well have been an editing trick, added in from something he said at a different time in the race. We did not see Oswald’s(?) mouth when he said that…they both had their back to the camera, heading toward the mat. I love the Amazing Editors, but that’s a standard thing with this show.

Secondly, even if it was said at that moment, it may not have meant what it sounded like. Or he may have said “Charla’s going to be in love with this idea…” of having little people greeters and the editors cut the last part out.

One thing I’ve learned over the course of the five or six seasons of this show that I’ve actually seen is that strange little off-moments like this, where an otherwise generally-likeable team has a seemingly ugly quote dropped into the mix, are usually an editing thing. I try not to make judgments about the mental and emotional ugliness of a team unless it’s completely obvious through repeated and frequent bad behavior that they’re not being given a “villain” or “duh” edit. Jonathan, Peter, late-game Colin…these are all ugly players that no amount of editing could have made look worse. Oswald’s quote this time seemed more like one of the editing tricks they do than a blot on an otherwise really great racer.

Thank you for that reminder, jayjay. Point taken.
