It doesn’t even matter if this is true or not, the premise of this statement is incredibly on brand for David.
As a very shy introvert, I felt this one.
I’m looking for a specific line that I heard in, I think, one of these shows, and happened to see Cunk in a thumbnail. Haven’t even watched the clip yet.
As another shy introvert who has recently grown a beard, I especially related to that part of the discussion. I too like wearing a beard, but don’t particularly like when people notice it.

If you can find it, check out Taskmaster NZ from New Zealand. Same show, different cast. David Correos from Series 2 is a treasure. The first series has Guy Montgomery, who is the brother of the NZ Taskmaster’s Assistant, Paul Montgomery. Taskmaster Australia just started too and it’s ok.
One of the original classic Would I Lie To You segments is Kevin Bridge’s story about accidentally buying a horse. It always makes me laugh out loud!!
Other shows I like are Mock The Week (RIP), Have I Got News For You (which isn’t that exciting to watch in “reruns” as it’s just about the news), and Nevermind the Buzzcocks. Buzzcocks is very fun to watch old episodes. The new episodes of the revived series are ok, because Greg Davies is the host and team leaders are Daisy May Cooper and Noel Fielding, with Jamali Maddix somehow also being there every episode.
I’m trying to get in to Hypothetical because I love James Acaster but I can’t get excited about it. I do have a chuckle when I get around to watching it but I’m not looking forward to it every week like I am Taskmaster.

But at the same time, I don’t want them to not notice it either.
I’ve been watching Taskmaster on YouTube, I think I’m up to like Series 5 or whatever. It’s by no means my favorite content on YouTube, nor is it my favorite British show (that would be Ghosts). I’ve barely recognized a few of the panelists, including the woman who portrayed Kitty on Ghosts. I do wish they’d do that show in the US!!!

They did do one season of Taskmaster in the Us. I thought it was cute, but nowhere near as great as the UK.
Season 2 of the New Zealand version was unbelievable. So hilarious.
I love how amused Rhod is here (and in any of his WILTY bits) every time he comes up with has a good comeback without missing a beat.
And this one in particular has lots of them plus they all come together about halfway through when Rhod finally puts all his replies into a single coherent statement. But even then, was that the giveaway that he’s telling the truth or did something click and he came up with a narrative that fits what he already said and can keep him on track for a few more minutes.
Then before the reveal, you see Lee figure it out.
