I listened to a gleeful Trump supporter on the NPR program "Here and Now"yesterday, and if she is typical, his followers will be loyal believers to the bitter end. This woman did not think Trump lied about anything, she doubts the FBI reports that there has been increased violence against Muslims since the election, and she’ll have to “wait and see” what Steve Bannon really believes. “White Nationalism?? What IS that anyway??” :smack: These people deny what they see right in front of their own eyes. (By “these people,” I mean loyal Trump supporters.)
They voted with their guts, clearly not their brains, so facts/events/logic will not sway them IMHO.
So, a few things. There is a difference between being a lifelong member of the NRA and being a life member of the NRA. You can be a life member of the NRA for $1000. It gives you the right to vote in their elections and you never have to pay dues again. Some people are actually lifetime members. Someone buys them a life membership when they are born (Personally I bet the parents would prefer a really nice stroller).
Secondly, a LOT of people are NRA members. Michael Moore and John F Kennedy were NRA members.
Thirdly, why does it matter that he was an NRA member or are we trying to demonize gun owners again? How’d that work out for us on election day?
He is a Lifetime member.
edited to add: Are you going to pick at this one straw, or are you going to comment on the whole of what has been revealed about him so far?
Pretty obvious, isn’t it? Obama got way more votes than the other guy, so his election is not legitimate. Trump got about a million less votes, that’s a mandate. He’ll explain that to you.
He seems too partisan for the position and it makes me less confident that Trump may tack back to the center when he is in office.
I’m just picking on the whole “here’s this bad guy and of course, he is an NRA member” The reflexive demonization of guns and gun owners is not going to make life better for us unless guns are the sole determinant of social welfare in your book.
Well, it seems Christie already received his measure of “gratitude” for bending over. So were Rudy left to go back to the speaking circuit, or given a post beneath his expectations, it would be another sign that they offer a scraping lackey as much respect as is deserved.
