Gosh! Really? The rich are telling the non-rich, the worker class that makes the rich rich, to stop class warfare?
Huh. Go figure.

FWIW, $200,000 is enough to buy about a pound of truffles a week.
You’re welcome for me correcting you. Don’t mention it.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Anyone who is paying PERSONAL INCOME TAX (as opposed to capital gains or corporate income tax) on more than around $250,000 (I’ll even allow cost-of-living adjustments to $500,000 if he’s a big-city boy), and is complaining about how much tax they pay, is a weeping genital sore unfit to sully my universe with their sob story.
You’re quite right. The rich do not wish the non-rich to begin to fight class warfare. You couldn’t tell.
They however, are the ones bringing it up. Perhaps it’ll give someone an Idea.
“Say, Ethel, instead of just humping my ass at Best Buy today, why don’t I start a union?”
“Oh, honey, they’ll just bring in strike-breakers and goons and the National Guard.”
“Ah, that’s all right, I’m armed.”
Don’t fall for it, Frank! You’ll take his correction, change your argument, then he’ll tell you you’re still an idiot.
ETA: Too late. Bugger.
Heh. I expect him to correct me. It’s not like I care.
More typical idiocy from EP.
The “only” is your word, not his. He never says “only.” And you think he should really lay out a full argument for his position in a TV interview? You’ve made tons of posts on this messageboard and you never actually argue for anything (you just assert and assert and hope an argument magically materializes out of it).
The idea that he is whining comes only from you and your ilk. Nothing he says indicates he is whining or complaining about anything–that is a gloss provided only by you.
Wrong again. The interview brought his personal situation into it and muffed the facts–he set the facts straight.
Well, as it turns out, we don’t care about your opinion (yes, I actually asked all of us making more than that, and every one of us doesn’t give a shit what you personally think). We’ll just go on making your life better every single day while you bitch and moan and hate us for it every step of the way.
Rand Rover, Wealthy Messageboard Curmudgeon
Ah, the newest Republican article of faith; the rich are noble public benefactors.
Meanwhile, the rest of us will be loading up the (really) automatic weapons, in preparation for fighting our way through your goons. (Do you make enough money to buy goons? Um, just out of idle curiousity.)
Meanwhile, while you’re waiting for my goons to work their way through the Chicago public transit system, you may spend some time telling me how you make my life better every single day.
We should go back to the 19th century when we had low taxes and there was no poverty or hunger because everyone supported charities with all their extra cash.
Nope. Never said that and don’t believe it.
I help people invest in things you like. For example, I’ve recently helped an investor invest in several apartment complexes. They wouldn’t have invested at all (or as much or as quickly, depending) if they weren’t confident that their partners (who I represented) understood their needs from a tax structuring standpoint.
Then please tell me how all you people making more than $250,000 make my life better every single day. You may wish to look up the definition of “benefactor” so you know what words to tap dance around.
They make your life better by doing more to create the products and services that you like than do the people who make less than that. For example, the congressman being discussed here brought some Subway stores into existence that wouldn’t otherwise exist. People go there every day and get sandwiches–if that store wasn’t where it is, those people would have to drive further or eat an inferior sandwich.
I took “benefactor” to mean someone giving something to society out of the goodness of their heart, which isn’t what I’m discussing here. Rich people make society a better place out of their own self-interest, not out of the goodness of their hearts.
I help keep Service Sector there safe, apparently. What is it that he’s done to make my life better? The stupid lies his kind tell in weak-sauce attempts to pretend Republicans aren’t worthless lowlifes ceased to be amusing long ago, and if he doesn’t amuse me, what good is he?
Heh. I mean, really, heh.
What income group is the target audience for those apartment complexes?
I’ve got no idea. They are going to buy about a few billion dollars worth of apartment complexes, so I’d imagine it’s all over the map. Why do you ask?
