This story is about an incident at my daughter’s school yesterday. The coach involved is her swimming team coach. My daughter arrived for the team’s weight training practice just minutes after the assault.
A 17 y/o senior punched a 15 y/o junior in the center of his forehead. The 15 y/o went down and seconds later, the coach was out there doing rescue breathing. (The incident happened right outside his classroom.) Shortly thereafter, paramedics arrived and the boy was transported.
According to kids who saw what happened, there wasn an argument that had something to do with one boy’s sister having argued with the other boy’s girlfriend. The attacker is in juvie - apparently he has prior arrests. The victim, last I hear, is in intensive care.
Very sad and very scary. But also very fortunate for the 15 y/o that the coach was there and knew what to do - as it happens, he’s a former Navy officer. I’ve had CPR training many times over the years. I know what to do, in theory. I wonder if I’d know what to do if I had to? Would you?
Yay for the coach. Prayers for the victim and his family. I try not to think what might have happened if the attacker was armed.
<sigh>
