Hello fellow teachers
I’m about to graduate with a double degree in education and music education. However I am thinking of pursuing my masters in music performance. I have heard though most teachers do this later as employers don’t want to higher teachers who have lots of education because they are too expensive (and in my case, no experiance beyond internship) If I go for my masters now will it be a real difficulty getting a teaching job in the future? I am very willing to move so thats not an obstacle. I would like to try and teach at a post secondary institution ideally which is why I’m going for my masters (and perhaps my DMA eventually)
Also is it a risk to me to take some time off before getting a teaching job? Will employers wonder why I didn’t go for a job immeadiately?
Thanks for all the help! My future will be decided in the next two weeks!
