Sorry meant to say Dustbowl Stage 2, first cap area. Thats the one where the blue team comes out of a recessed gated area. Red can go behind enemy lines on that part. The blue team, in the instance I was speaking of, had built some sentries under there in hopes of preventing us from getting behind their gates, but it didn’t hold.
On the incredibly unlikely off-chance that a doper match could be arranged on a server that’s relatively low-ping (for me) my handle is Sindigo
If any aussiedoper TF2 players see me around, give me a hoy.
Ah–I was wondering if that was it! That makes sense, and sounds awesome.
Daniel
You pretty much held your own last night…ya backstabber! So that’s how you say “Hello!” to a fellow doper!
As for the friend list, count “us” (Me, my oldest & middle sons) in…again our handle is SexualPervert! My oldest son said the handle is the name of a song that he likes from some indie band. Whatever. I know how to use the mic now, but it seems that nobody can hear me…maybe I will have that resolved next time.
If you see us online, just ask if it’s me, Yeti (old dude), Ian (19 y.o.) or Con (11 y.o.); we all have certain classes we prefer to play as well. We are on the west coast, and usually play after 8pm PST on the weekdays, anytime on the weekends. I play online SDMB poker on Thursdays at 7pm PST.
Well, seems that all of you are playing Team Fortress on a comp. Anyone here who plays it on the 360? Or am I the odd one out?
Just in case anyone doesn’t know, there’s an SDMB Steam community.
I’m shadeedge, btw, in case you see me. And in all other online games I play.
Yeah, I forgot to mention the steam community (sdmb thread). We can all sign up, and keep track of each other there.
I used to have a dedicated server to host games, but not anymore. But my internet connection is excellent and I can easily host an 8-12 player game. I might try to get my SDMB-lurking friend to do it because his system is even better.
I’m guessing weekend afternoons are going to be the best time overall for everyone. I might have some trouble with that this weekend, as I often go out to watch the playoff games.
I’ve got a few unused computers lying around that I might be able to use for a dedicated server, though I’d have to look into it some more.
Just joined the community. I’m Bela Oxmyx. Play TF2 on both PC and 360.
Alright, so I was fiddling with a Linux dedicated server all night and was ultimately unable to get it to work - apparently there’s some processors that Steam’s dedicated server just won’t work with. If anyone else is willing to try, though, by all means do. Let me know if you need any help.

Steam is apparently offering a promotion to NVIDIA card users to give them free games - HL2 Deathmatch, HL2 Lost Coast (tech demo), Portal: The first slice (extended demo), Peggle extreme.

If you haven’t tried HL2 deathmatch, I recommend it. I don’t normally like deathmatch games at all, but the physics make HL2DM unique and fun. Also, it has a slower pace than most DM games… characters move a little more slowly, don’t jump as high, etc. so it’s not the annoying bunny hopping fests I hate.
