My 3 year old Technics SA-DX950 Surround Sound receiver has been cutting-out on me for the past couple days. After a few hours of use the sound will click off, then wait two seconds and then click back on. The click is the same sound heard then the receiver is turned on or inputs are switched. I first noticed the problem after a marathon 8 hour jamming (stripping the wallpaper in my kitchen) session. The problem now surfaces after only three hours of use.
Is this the result of overheating? I placed it in a new entertainment center about 4 months ago and I’m worried about the ventilation. What should the spacing be for proper ventilation? Right now it has only an inch on top (nothing is sitting on it) and about 4 inches in back. Also the entertainment center is partially closed in back.
