Story here. He supposedly doesn’t have a choice; As a member of Congress, Obamacare is his only option. As if everyone else is on it for different reasons. Ass hole.
In the great tradition of Gandhi and MLK, there’s always civil disobedience.
At least he’s not pulling a Dick Mack.
Looks like that Canadian blood is showing through.
Holy shit, what if he likes it?.. But he is bound to try to kill it… but it fights back, gravely wounding him…then it helps him to treat his wounds…
Sure, he has a choice in Cobra or other private insurance. But he’d have to pay for that out of his own pocket, rather than out of the taxpayers’ pockets. Fucking hypocrite.
Maybe it’s just me, but his voice makes me want to start throwing shit.
No. In my case, rocks. Rocks are more ballistically stable than shit. Targeting is important, a rock thrown at this head might injure, but thrown at his ego, would shatter.
He also has the choice of no health insurance at all–something many Americans were forced into pre-Obamacare because of pre-existing conditions or lack of income–a situation most Republicans would like go back to.
Hours or minutes before he walks that back? Today, tomorrow at the latest.
Do we cover Cuban-Canadians?
Headlines claiming anyone is “going on” Obamacare just fuel the belief that there is a single program (like Medicare or Medicaid) at the heart of “Obamacare”.
Cruz is buying health insurance on the open exchange. He’ll have many options to choose from, which his free-market heart should enjoy.
Why is he an asshole for obeying the law? It’s not reasonable to expect him to just stop having health insurance for himself and his family.
I’m “on Obamacare”, whatever that means. I bought insurance thru an exchange because mine went up over 20% last year if I wanted to keep the plan I had. I ended up buying a lesser plan for the same amount I was paying for the better plan and saved myself the 20% increase. It’s still a pretty good plan, just not a great plan (I’ll admit I had what would qualify is a Platinum Plan and now I have a Gold Plan. Not a great hardship, but I prefer that Plan to paying 20% more per year.)
Shit I came here to post this and see I was beaten.
I looooooooooooove how he won’t answer whether he will take a subsidy. Love it.
Love. It.
Fantastic. Let him explain why Obamacare won’t destroy our nation, see how far that gets him with the GOP nomination.
That is sooooooo going to ruin his chances of winning the presidency…
He is far too well paid to be eligible.
Ideally, probably shouldn’t, given the circumstances of his employment. But he panders to low-information voters, and “Cruz/ObamaCare” may be all they take away from it. Darn shame about that, but whaddaya gonna do?
Because he is arguing that it is bad, and he has other choices but isn’t taking them.
Being on Obamacare means not taking your employer’s insurance, which is what you had to do before Obamacare. If Obamacare is bad, he should be willing to just take what his job offers him, as that’s what he’d have to do without Obamacare. But he’s not.
Because the crux of his argument is that people should buy private insurance, rather than getting it through the government, that private insurance is better and cheaper. But now that he needs to choose his insurance, he’s opting to get it through the government. The law doesn’t require him to do this.
His wife should have reconsidered quitting her job, and relinquishing her employer-sponsored insurance . . . or gotten a COBRA policy. Millions of people on Obamacare don’t have that option.
But the law makes the exchanges the best deal. I might think there would be a BETTER deal if the law didn’t exist, but those deals aren’t available.
This is really stupid, and you should know better. It’s the old: How can you accept Social Security payments if you’re opposed to it? Well, duh… I had to pay into it all my working days whether I agreed with it or not.
